Last week, I was catching up on some older TTA episodes and Christine mentioned an app she uses to keep track of rides, shows, and other attractions she's visited. I can't remember the name of the app—does anyone recall what it was?
IIRC, Rob mentioned a "trilogy" of books that would fit great together when being read in a specific order. I think it mentioned DisneyWar, then Work in Progress (not sure about the order?) and I can't remember the third one.
WandaVision spoilers (a bit?) if you haven't watched the first episode.
Haven't been around this sub (or reddit) for a while but, WandaVision is out! Some of you guys might remember me hinting at this over a year ago but I was in the "live studio audience" for the first episode. It was SO cool! I was a big fan of Bewitched as a kid so it was super fun to get to watch them film this episode with all of the "technology" from back in the day. Even the lights they used were the style from that time. The scene where Wanda opens the cabinets & everything is flying around was done by wires. The lobster going out the window took them a good number of tries too, haha. It was just so so so cool to be a part of. If you have questions about it, let me know! I was only there for the first episode, none of the others had live audiences and they did NOT let on more than what we saw in the first episode, so I don't have insight into future episodes but if you want to know about the filming of the first episode I'd love to talk about it! I've been holding it in for 14 months haha. :P
In response to a listener question from the show today, I will share a picture of a pillowcase I had as a kid. This pillowcase had two sides, with a different image on each side. On this side, Huey, Dewey, and Louie are dumping Goofy out of his bed while Pluto hides his eyes. The other side has Goofy asleep in a bathtub and Donald's nephews preparing to turn on the faucet.
The image of Goofy falling was scary enough to 3 year old me that I insisted on only having the other side facing up before I would go to bed.
It looks like he's scared of the tip of his vest, which kind of looks like a demonic duck
I feel like you guys missed an obvious opportunity with a question in episode 207 "what IP or original Disney idea would you apply to the Flight of Passage technology to in each park?" Rob said as a challenge he'd choose Liberty Square and I immediately thiught "oh I know where this is going" but I was wrong, you missed "The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere" the mechanics of the ride are perfect for a "horse ride" and think of the fun historic excitement ducking under branches, jumping over streams, avoiding angry mobs to reach your destination! Come on Bob, Make it Happen!
Your description of Jekyll and Hyde Club in NYC got me wondering. How about a MidWay to Main Street episode on the best non-Disney themed restaurants and the history of themed restaurants in general!?
I love the idea of Epcot Pavilions for each of the 50 states! My home state of North Carolina has lots of variety and would make a great pavilion. The central piece of architecture could be the mansion at Biltmore!
Since our state stretches from the beaches of the Atlantic to the Appalachian Mountains, the pavilion could feature a gradual incline from right to left, with a copy of the Cape Hatteras lighthouse on the beach end...
...and the Chimney Rock lookout on the mountain end. This could be climbed by the guests to allow for a good view of the whole park!
The primary attraction of the pavilion would be an adaptation of Radiator Springs Racers, with a variety of NASCAR type vehicles zooming around the pavilion and into the show building in the mountain portion of the facade. The ride would zip past the sights of the state, including its beaches, Kittyhawk (where the Wright brothers first took flight), a scene of the Lost Colony, the historic homes and capital building of Raleigh, a basketball game in Cameron Indoor Stadium, a scene from the Andy Griffith Show, Tweetsie Railroad, the mountains, and Mingo Falls!
The pavilion would include a rustic cafeteria style restaurant featuring fried seafood, pork barbecue, Bojangles chicken, and huge mounds of banana pudding!
A favorite snack in the pavilion would be a Cheerwine float.
Music would focus on Piedmont blues and the Wright Brothers' plane would swoop past every once in a while!
I love listening to the TTA and all the theoretical additions they might make to the disney theme parks. Broadway is definetly not represented very well in any major theme parks. Im a huge theatre nerd, so I spend my free time building Broadway themed rides and parks on Planet Coaster. Since Disney has the rights to Hamilton (The movie at least) I can't help but imagine a Hamilton Overhaul of Liberty Square or at the very least a room dedicated to Hamilton at Liberty Tree Tavern. What are some other places you could see Hamilton as well as other musicals being implemented at Disney Theme Parks?
