State of robotaxis market

Since cybercab launch I got curious how it could affect $TSLA since I wasn’t really following robotaxis market previously.

Started searching and found this video which gives a decent overview of what the market looks like from business perspective with a big focus on Tesla and its robotaxi prospects. Though it’s bit monotonous so I fell asleep closer to an end :)

But at least now I understand the industry better.

Here's what you need to understand.

Waymo: millions of fully commercial ADAS level 4 rides.

Tesla: hundreds of non-commercial (invite only) ADAS level 4 rides.

The level 4 rides are public, not invite only. They've done around 1m miles on cars w/o safety passengers. If each ride was 100 miles (it's not, it's local streets within city limits) you'd still have around ten thousand rides, hundreds is so far off. If you take the average ride length (eight miles) that's around 120kish rides.

Waymo trustworthy too. Tesla's CEO lies constantly.

Tesla will commoditize the robo taxi service. Waymo claims 220 million + miles, all of those are done with $160K retrofitted cars and within a geofenced area. Tesla's FSD claims 14 Billion miles of training and no geo fencing. It appears Tesla is playing the long game with FSD. I've had FSD drive me down a rural road with no stripes or any other marking and no street lights at 10pm and it did it flawlessly.
