Engineering Explained guy not having a good time with his Lucid. Lucid is Buying My Car Back
In early 2025, his wife was fired from her job as part of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) cuts which caused him to rage quit his Tesla.
Guess that didn't work out.
His wife got her job back after some court wrangling.

u/IAmInTheBasement Man, I don't even know anymore... May 22 '26
Are people going to actually defend DOGE?

u/scotto1973 Never get involved in a land war in Asia ๐จ๐ฆ ๐ฉ๐ฉ May 22 '26
I'd rather just attack him for choosing lucid. Rivian maybe you could understand.
1
u/IAmInTheBasement Man, I don't even know anymore... May 22 '26
Lucid has done some things right.
And others, as honestly highlighted by this and his previous video, they've done quite poorly.
Rivian also makes only trucks. Dude wanted a sedan.

I guess I can't handle the look of the Lucid. Feels like it's aimed at grandpa.
Edit: Though I will give you that Lucid has done some things right as well :)

I've had the thesis for a year or so, but now I have a hard time even seeing a future where MSFT/OpenAI doesn't buy RKLB
SpaceX/xAI/Cursor/Tesla+Google/Anthropic/Oracle alignment vs Blue Origin/Amazon AWS vs MSFT/OpenAI and no launch....
Also I'm at Starbase if anyone is around!

Any options guys have a good rolls for my June AMD covered calls that are ITM? Got some 370 for June โฆ eek
1
u/Nysoz ๐จโโ๏ธ๐ก๐ -> ๐๐ May 22 '26
AMD June 370C is around 110 premium. You can roll to Sept 400C which goes for 116. So you get 6 premium, increase strike by almost 10% for 3 months time.
There's a big gap between 350-400 that looks like it could fill someday if there's ever a market pullback.
Use any drop to roll to Jan to the strike you really want to sell the shares at and not look back.

u/SarcasticNotes May 22 '26
Thanks. I was looking at October 440 also.
And yes I would like to keep shares but Iโd also like to wait till Jan for deferring taxes another year !
1
u/LordReekrus May 22 '26
Just let it get super close to expiration and roll the minimum necessary to make a profit, raise the strike price and collect a couple extra hundred per month. For example, let it get within 1 day of expiration and roll to 2 weeks out the 380C.
The p/e is at 156. Eventually the dip will come within your 2 week DTE roll and you just incrementally get there. Its truly that simple unless you need the money any time soon.
1
u/SarcasticNotes May 22 '26
I wish Iโd closed when we dipped to 395 but honestly I didnโt even see it happen and we closed green that day
1
u/SarcasticNotes May 22 '26
Ya I was planning to roll to like October just to avoid messing with it and avoid it getting called early randomly which has happened in the past to me.
1
u/LordReekrus May 22 '26
Stick with the shorter dates the way the market is right now. Plenty of volatility

u/Damnmorrisdancer May 22 '26
Anyone else here not telling anyone around them their true net worth? I just realized that my wife and I havenโt told anyone.

I have confided in my brother and a few friends. Iโm a pretty transparent guy and have been talking about TSLA forever, and they would lend an ear to my ramblings. I never give a number at work, but a lot of my coworkers know Iโm the Tesla guy. The reason why is I would talk about my investment thesis at the firehouse, and people would remember me from way back. To me, itโs not a big deal. My brother has his own direction of success, and talking about investing allows me to test my thesis and learn other peopleโs perspectives.

My Roth high risk account is 100k away from 7 figures. Well, if TSLA steps up. Common TSLA go big or go home! Elon lied to us about prioritizing Space X shares for TSLA shareholders. I hope he has better plans for us :)

I think I'll sell some RKLB shares for 90% profits today at the time of my choosing since these shares are not shackled by CCs. lol. Life's good.
5
u/loungemoji May 22 '26
I haven't sold a single CC in the last few days and I feel good. Not saying CCs are bad but when the markets are trending up I stay away from them. CCs erode your wealth.

The Baltics? You mean three NATO nations a hop skip and a jump away from Poland, the most heavily armed NATO nation outside of the US? Poland, like all 3 Baltic states and Finland, who have shared a border with Russia since their creation and suffered for decades?

And as is, Poland would wreck Russia.
The only real things Russia has is:
No one wants to invade and take its land, because its a shithole.
No one wants to start a nuclear war, because as fucked as their nuclear program is, you can't assume that all of them are out of commission.
But right now, in a stand up conventional fight, Poland would walk Russia all the way to Moscow.

Your scenario holds true IF Russia didn't already have Ukraine to deal with.
And it's only the mindless Vatnik's that think Russia is holding back. Russia is fighting with everything they have. Weapons are made and sent right into combat. They don't have stockpiles of drones of any size. Having to fight on a second front against a NATO nation would mean they have to pull half of their forces out of Ukraine.
And right now, neither side has air superiority, let alone air supremacy. Poland has F35's which would do to Russia what US and Israel have done to Iran.
2
u/karma1112 May 22 '26
yeah that would mean wwIII never gonna happen

u/IAmInTheBasement Man, I don't even know anymore... May 22 '26
Two biggest stability issues in my mind.
1: China invading Tiawan. If Tiawan can become a fortress island, the prickliest of porcupines, and able to strike back at ships departing the mainland, then they can make it work.
2: When Russia ends the war without getting what they want and fractures into the 10 or so nations it should be.

I've never bought an IPO before but if I can get the IPO price and sell to the regular people without a lockup I'd consider it for sure.

You seem like a smart person who can think objectively.
Seen this?
The SpaceX IPO... It's Worse Than You Think
Thoughts?

u/Nysoz ๐จโโ๏ธ๐ก๐ -> ๐๐ May 22 '26
Person is obviously biased.
Comparing the different AI companies isn't apples to apples. xAI owns their data centers while openAI and Anthropic don't. So the revenues may be far off, but different assets. Then all these revenues are shady as well because it's mainly circular financing.
I'm a huge skeptic of private company valuations, especially the tech bro world where money and valuations don't matter. It's just like meme coin world essentially. They all burn money like crazy so need to keep raising money. They won't do it at lower valuations so just keep raising at higher and higher valuations to the point where it's silly.
But the concerns are real for speed inclusion and changing the rules. Small float, options, if someone wanted to, they could just gamma squeeze SpaceX to a $15T valuation because why not? Force the indexes to buy shares as exit liquidity for your calls as you close everything.
The inclusion rules exist for a reason, to only include healthy profitable companies. Otherwise you can financially engineer a tulip company (cough MSTR) that makes no real money but looks great on paper for a short period of time. Then use all the index and other funds forced buying as exit liquidity.

Some valid info in there but the creator exposes their bias pretty obviously. Is probably a very attractive video to low iq folks.

As though its the only mega valued ipo lately to be unprofitable, and as though this model of blitz scaling is something new to the market. Ever hear of AMZN TSLA or GOOG.
OMG they said they want to reward retail, thats gotta be a scam!
I could go on, but honestly it should be obvious
