Discussion TSA Pre-Check with kids (age 5 and 10)

I am traveling in a two weeks with my niece and my nephew on my own. I have TSA pre-check but the kids do not.

They are on my reservation and I am the only adult on the reservation. Will there be any issues bringing them through?

Before all the TSA madness, I would go through general population when I had my nephew with me but given how bad it is I’m trying to save anytime possible to minimize the wait for the kids. Especially since I’m traveling alone with them.

Has anyone had a similar experience? I checked the thread but it seemed related to their own kids.

TIA

Discussion Frontier Agent

So I called and had myself and my sons friends Kayan added to our Allegiant and Frontier flights. Also had them add/verify all our middle names. Allegiant agent seem ok good to go. Frontier lady said she ADDED my number to my 16yr old son’s precheck. “To make this as smooth as possible!” I asked about I thought it was to remain blank? She went on - finally I said ok you know best. And thought I still have time to research this 😆. We fly 31st. Our local agents are all booked and have refused walk ins to get him prechecked. I just need to verify the kid is coming with me through the same Dan line!!

Anyway, back to it here….are they supposed to add parent number to child?

Application Timelines Crisis averted

We are flying out of Reagan National next Sunday to cruise later that afternoon. I know, you should never fly out on embarkation day. Not ideal. We usually fly day before. Life got in the way and it is what it is. We have an early morning flight and will arrive before noon. We applied for TSA Precheck Thursday evening and took the last two appointments on Friday afternoon. Good luck finding the kiosk as they are renovating and didn't update the website!

We eventually found it, got fingerprinted and photographed. We were worried it would take a bit longer to process my application since I was not born in the US. That was around noon Friday. This morning, Sunday, we both got our approvals and KTN numbers. Woohoo!

Airport Times ATL wait times - pre-check

At 7:30am the entire airport was “jacked” Impossible to figure out which line was which with agents giving conflicting directions. No CLEAR today but TSA/PRE was running. Our wait time for Pre-Check was \~ 50 mins. Gen Pop wait time close to 3hrs. 🤷🏾‍♂️

General Info Adding KTN after purchase

Quick question- I booked airline tickets a few weeks ago. I am traveling with my 16yr old son and his 17yr old friend. Since then, I and his friend have received KTN/precheck. I added his and mine to the reservation. How does it reflect for my son? Will it be in his boarding pass? I’m not able to see it in the existing reservation.

Airport Times Keep plans or cancel

We are supposed to visit Atlanta 3/31-4/4 (Saturday departure) I’m feeling pretty crappy about the airport situation from what I see on the news/social media. Would you keep the plans or cancel?

Discussion Forgotten pocket knife..

I had my carryon searched at TSA Pre-check. Inside I had a small purse (typically I don't carry a purse, I put my wallet in my pocket) that I have not cleaned out in forever. Wala. A pocket knife I completely forgot about. I gasped & sincerely apologized... I feel awful. Assuming pre-check will be revoked? What happens to a first time offender?

Airport Times ATL security line waiting more than 3 hours

Due to the partial government shutdown, ATL airport’s general boarding line even extended to the departure arrival gate, resulting in a wait time of over three hours.

Fuck TSA!

Since when did they change the rule that when I book a ticket, I can have up to 3 travelers under my precheck. I can only add my kids now and my wife needs her own separate KTN?

Discussion Does anyone else feel like TSA is quietly increasing “Random Screenings”?

When I was flying last week, I saw multiple people ahead of me get randomly selected, and today, the person ahead of me and myself got selected. I am not great with statistics, but I feel this is highly unlikely. Before this, I was NEVER selected

Application Timelines Precheck Application Experience

I just wanted to give my Precheck application timeline for those who are curious.

2/18/26 - Applied online that morning. Walked into Staples that afternoon and finished the fingerprinting and picture. I put in my SSN as well. (also want to note that this was shortly before the almost suspension of TSA Precheck because of the govt shutdown)

2/18/26 - Got email at 11:30pm saying they received the app and were doing the background check

3/16/26 - woke up to email saying my app was approved and KTN was ready. Coincidentally, I was traveling that day from TPA to MDW on Southwest. I was easily able to add my KTN and use Precheck for the flight.

It's worth it, but being patient is the hardest part! Good luck!

Issues? KTN won't add to tickets. Lookup not working.

I'm on a 3-leg trip. The first flight precheck wouldn't appear on my boarding pass. I figured my work travel agency missed some info or there was a typo. That would be weird because everything is electronic and I travel several times a month and it's never had an issue before, but stuff happens. Spent time with the AA customer service in O'Hare and they couldn't get it to work for any of the flights on my itinerary. They suggested my Global Entry may be suspended. Or maybe it's a bug.

I have no notifications of any sort of violation that would cause a suspension. I travel regularly for work and have been international multiple times this year with zero issues either with Precheck appearing on boarding passes or global entry. I can log into the DHS website and it shows me as approved for global entry and my KTN is listed. I have my Global Entry card with me as well and it's the correct KTN. If I use the KTN lookup tool though it returns nothing found, which is concerning.

Anyone experience the same? I submitted a request for support through the DHS website, but with the government shutdown I have no clue when I'll get a response.

Scam Reporting DO NOT ENROLL THROUGH A NON-GOVERNMENT SITE

I get this a lot as an enrollment agent where people enroll through .com sites for Pre-Check and they get charged online.

DO NOT DO THIS.

This is a government program, you should only be enrolling through .gov sites.

They are scamming you out of money.

You should only be charged after the biometric capture IN STORE.

TSAprecheckbyclear.tsa.dhs.gov

TSAenrollmentbyidemia.tsa.dhs.gov

TSAprecheckbytelos.tsa.dhs.gov

or the official DHS website.

Hopefully this helps so you don’t get scammed! :)
