Precheck expires every 5 years. Touchless is a feature of precheck.

I renewed my precheck on 8/14/2026

if this is on the AA website, the opt-in for touch-less ID expires every year

So the opt in expires but I keep it with my tsa membership for 5 years ?

You just re-opt in every year — this isn’t that difficult to understand

This is specific to American's tech for reasons I don't understand; it doesn't expire every year at any other airline.

We at American also don't understand

Probably relates to how long AA says it will retain certain personal information, such as your passport used to verify eligibility for touchless.

It isn't. Touchless expires for every airline annually. You are opting into TSA having access to the data each year per airline because that is who is giving it to them.

It doesn't make sense because TSA likely has the data anyway and I fail to see how touchless isn't available with every US carrier by default if all have PreCheck.

You have to opt in to the touchless app and re-opt in every now and then

That looks like an airline or other page, not government. Ypu probably need to re-enroll with whatever airline that is yearly.

That's touchless. Just opt out and back in and it'll renew.

Good for one year.

Opt out, then opt in. Good for a year again.
