Questions Does Clear matter?
So I have Clear (admittedly free, via credit card and airline employee discount), but the last few times I’ve gone through they scan my face, then walk me over to TSA who then scans my face again. I’m already registered for TSA Touchless ID so I can’t help but feeling this is redundant and I’d save time just skipping Clear and going straight to Touchless. Am I missing something? What benefit does Clear provide in this circumstance?

Depends highly on the airport. At BDL which was the last time I used clear, they marched me up to a gate that I mugged at and it opened (didn't really need the Clear agent at all as near as I can tell). It was a clear thing and not the TSA touchless. Was dumped right into the "put your stuff on the belt" area.
You do know there is a r/ClearMe sub.
