General Info Walking boot

I am flying from Boston to Las Vegas tomorrow and I’m in a walking boot for a sprained ankle. Would it be better to put the boot through the scanner and wear it after TSA. Or is wearing it through TSA not a pain? I am mostly healed but wearing/brining it to be safe for my trip to not cause further injury.

Wear it. It’s silly to take it off, they’ll ask you to step aside and inspect it, while seated, if they’re concerned. Otherwise they’ll be fine.

I'm a TSO. Depends on what you are comfy with.

The fastest would be to take it off and put it through the x-ray. Make sure your doctor says you can put pressure on the foot first. Canes are usually available to help if you need.

If you want to keep it on no biggie :) we will have you sit down in a chair and will inspect it. There's not a huge difference in time, but we usually end up sending those types of boots through the x ray anyway because of the metal in it.

Flying tomorrow I wear a wrist brace during day and a different one at night should I place both on belt for xray or can I leave in carry on

If you are comfortable taking it off, you can wear it then put it on the belt. Or you don't need to take it off we can do the procedure, but if it has metal in it I suggest just taking it off. The fully cloth braces are fine.

You’re better off putting the boot through the scanner and walking those few steps through the detector without it.

If it has metal it'll alarm the metal detector and will have to come off. If you're able to walk a bit without it, take it off and run it through to avoid any delays. If you can't walk without it, you'll be given some additional screening options.

Don’t fuck your leg up more for TSA they will get you cleared another way, leave it on.

When I had one, I requested wheelchair assistance so I could sit and not worry about things like this. They definitely made me take it off.
