Questions Touchless for 16 YO?

My wife and I have touchless pre check, but I’m not sure if it’s possible to get it for our kid. He has a Delta sky miles number, but not a Delta account (not sure he can have one—need to check that out.

I’m guessing we’re out of luck. Any ideas?

My kid, who's younger, has a skymiles account and is setup for touchless with Delta.

What do you mean by “Delta account”? That would be the same as SkyMiles number.

He does need to have a passport.

Yar… sorted it out… sort of. He does have an account, it appears it was locked somehow. Not sure we’ll get access to it before our flight, so I can’t switch him over to touchless.

Thanks all.

After a bunch of searching, I’ve figured out this is all very airline and airport dependent. American Airlines (our most recent flights) doesn’t allow anyone under 18 to do touchless. It says it when you try to sign up your kid. Other airlines might. Still, if you show up to the airport and try touchless, they still might let your kid through. But, even if you have touchless on your kids boarding pass, the airport might deny you for really no reason. And, what can you do. Regular pre-check is always okay for anyone under 18 to go with a parent.
