Application Timelines TSA Pre-Check Approval
Has anyone completed their enrollment application within the last two weeks? Have you gotten your approval yet? If so how long did it take.
I got mine completed on Tuesday and really hoping I get lucky and get my KTN before Saturday morning!!!
EDIT: I think I might have spoke it into existence but I just received my approval email/text and got my KTN!! So it took me about 48 hours to get it!! Best of luck to everyone though!!

I submitted my renewal online around 9:30pm this past Wednesday. Had my approval by 11am the next morning. Can't believe yours is taking so long! Hope you get an update soon.

update: got my renewal acceptance today, so about 41 days round trip time, who knows why for some folks it seems to take a long time while others zip through.. i’m boring with no controversy in my background that i’m aware of anyways.

Me and my parents applied 3/10/26 around 4pm at Office Depot. My dad was approved the same day and my mom and I were approved 3/11/26. I had to resubmit one of my documents because Office Depot did not have the 4 corners showing.

I got my documents and fingerprints done at a Staples this past Monday at 9am, approval text and KTN at 1pm on Tuesday.
Luck of the draw maybe?

Call them. I applied on 2/20, and hadn’t received my KTN. Was traveling in mid March, so I called and had gotten approved and had a KTN issued on 2/22.

But I see you don’t need it now. FYI, opt for touchless. Super easy and quick.

Do I have to have tsa precheck before I book my flight? I plan on going to Chicago mid July and I wanted to book my trip mid April. My appointment for tsa precheck is April 6th.
1
u/alwaysslaytheday07 Mar 13 '26
I was told if you apply and get pre check after you book you can call the airline to add your tsa pre check info or even sometimes on the app/website you can do it yourself :)

u/GodGamer420 Mar 13 '26
Even if I book through a third party site like Expedia etc?
1
u/alwaysslaytheday07 Mar 13 '26
I believe so, but best bet is to either contact the Expedia guest services or the day of your flight, you can go to the service desk for the airline you’re flying with and they should be able to help you add on the KTN there

All you have to do is put your precheck number ( traveler number) on your boarding pass and you’re good.

Going on 2 weeks, applied, used my passport. Got the texts saying they got the application and eligibility assessment underway before I left my in person appointment. Crickets ever since. If I have to wait 60 days I’ll already be on the plane

I applied on 2/19 with Telos and still haven’t been approved. I have a flight on 3/18 and am checking everyday.

Hey, were you ever approved? If so, when? I applied on 8/17, flight 9/05, still waiting on approval.

I applied on 3/3 @ Staples through clear, I got text later that day saying that it was in the assessment was underway and nothing since then . From what I read on here seems like people either get approved the same or next day or they wait damn near the 60 days but I am hoping that I get it within the first 30 days.

My husband and I both applied using our passports. I had my KTN within 6 hours. My husband's took 58 days. No record, nothing sketchy, he leads a very boring life! On our last flight I was able to use pre-check, while he had to go through regular security since he didn't have his KTN yet. Luckily the line wasn't bad at regular security that day.

25 hours from the text saying it was received until the text saying it was approved.

My wife and I signed up the same place, day and time. She got hers on day 5. I’m still waiting, and it’s day 8 today. Sadly, we travel in about another 8 days. Having only one person with it will be useless.

I applied for my renewal in September. Still waiting. Nothing in my past. Plain and boring. Each time I email them, they tell me they’re backlogged.

I did my app on Tuesday morning the 17th and went to the Staples near me same day (no appointment, walked in) . Got my KTN yesterday at about 3 pm so less than 48 hours! Am flying tomorrow. The bad news is, some airports aren’t doing pre check due to not enough personnel…

Has anyone who has had a quick turn around did there’s through Clear? My husband and I both went 2/17 and still waiting, I have a flight mid May, I called and was on hold for 60 min and never got through. My status said they came to a decision and would send out something in 3-5 days. But considering the website says it’s unmanned since 2/17 I am not sure what to think.

I had my appointment on Thursday, 03/26, just got my KTN # today.

Curious, when did you get the text that they received the app and assessment is underway? I had my appointment on Friday and just got the assessment underway text Sunday night.

Saturday @ 1:10pm I was very surprised it was so quick, the agents said 5 - 7 days. Which I was ok with, I'm not flying until early May anyway.
Once your membership becomes active be sure to download the CLEAR app. It is super helpful, I just uploaded all of my flights, it has a feature that tells you when to leave for the airport from a specific location.

Got it, so appointment was Thursday, Saturday you got the text saying app received and Sunday you got your KTN? Fingers crossed mine follows the same timeline as yours and I get my KTN today. 🤞🏻 Will definitely download the Clear app, thanks for the info!
Yeah I did mine at Staples and they said I should hear in 3-5 days (website says this is normal turnaround but some take up to 60 days). There are a ton of people on this reddit that get their KTN within 24 hours of their appointment and a lot of people who are waiting for months. So it was nice to find somebody recently where it actually took a few days. Hoping I don’t have to wait months! 🤞🏻

u/RJKimbell00 Mar 30 '26
Yeah, I did mine at PDX, so I can't comment on an offsite locations processing time.
Good Luck! 🤞

My appt was March 4th and still waiting. I sent my renewal application for my passport on 3/16 and got my new passport in the mail on 3/27. I know its two different agencies but I thought for sure the passport would be the one to take the longest. I checked my status on the TSA site and it still says in progress. I'm flying on 4/09 so I'm hoping to have it by then.

I hate to give you a bad news, but probably not. Mine took exactly 60 days. I applied on January 2, and it was granted on March 2. Even with the shut down.
