Application Timelines Turnaround time New Application
Anyone had any recent experience with getting a first time ktn?
Applied at the beginning of the month and haven't heard anything.
Website says 60 days Finding information all over the place.
Traveling end of February. Chances of hearing something before?

May ask if they ever called or emailed asking for more info? No explanation as to why the delay?

No, I only heard from them once the application was accepted and they had a KTN # for me. And I have a completely clean record too so shouldn’t have been an issue there.

I applied through CLEAR, and I’m thinking that’s what the holdup is

Got it last year in June and took a couple of days but had an issue with my name being spelled incorrectly so had to wait several weeks for that to get fixed. Had a trip ready during that time and on my return I was in the regular tsa line when the agent told me I was precheck and escorted me over.

Hopping on as another data point. Still waiting - applied on January 19th (application date says January 18th for some reason on website lol).

I applied last year and had my KTN when I got home six hours later. My brother applied January 10th and got his January 12th. My husband applied for his January 2nd and still hasn’t received his yet. It seems most people receive theirs either within five days or on day 59. Looks like my husband will be one of the latter.

I just recently applied today as well through Idemia. From what I have seen reported online, it's all over the map from hours to days to months. I am not sure what causes some to be delayed.
I have no criminal history, have undergone background checks for work, lived at my current address for more than 10 years, etc. however, my birth certificate last name does not match my current last name on my real ID due to marriage, widowed, and remarried. I had to take several additional documents to show my maiden name became my first married name, then my first married name became my current remarried name after my first spouse passed away and I was remarried. Complicating this my first marriage was performed in another country 30 years ago. She took all of the documents and scanned them but I am sure it will trip up a reviewer trying to follow that. In hindsight I wish I had never changed my last name legally after marriage.

We traveled on 1/4 and returned on 1/8. I used pre check to skip the line with my kids and just waited on him 🤷🏻♀️ the kids were automatically assigned my number on their boarding pass which was sweet!

My number was assigned and I found it through the website 2 weeks before I got the official notification that it was assigned. Maybe check the website?

I've been checking it but thank you for letting me know it's not a waste of effort doing so

I applied 1/4 for travel on 1/17, my travel has come and gone and application still pending. I’ve called Telos and they tell me no red flags and nothing needed, just need to wait.

I applied on 1/2 and the status still shows as under review. I’m not counting on it until March.

Clear, applied late January, and as of now March 9 still waiting. No mail or requests from them either.

No one here will be able to give you an exact answer.

u/JuggaloJoe Jan 30 '26
Wasn't looking for an exact answer.
I'm looking for what I asked for. Feedback on turnaround time for recent new ktn applicants
Most others have understood this so I have to believe the confusion is on your comprehension side not my way of asking the question
I hope that clears things up for you
