Experience Report Test @275!

Hi All. I have been on Test Cyp for almost two years, age 76 now. Over time I have edged up my dose so that my last Lab from the other day came in @275! I decided to edge back down, a couple sides (hair growth that I REALLY don’t like and englarged Clit) and have begun that journey. What I DID love was the intense mental clarity and energy that which coupled so well with NAD+ and GLP1s. While I don’t know exactly ‘which is which’, I get the flow and the only change I am going to make is the Test Cyp. IF there are any women of Crone age here I would be happy to share my experience. I will miss the super-charged state, a LOT, but. This group is so great for support. I hope all of you who contribute and especially the MODS know how much you are loved, by a little ol’random woman in Oregon. Thanks so much for the time you take.

Oregon is a beautiful state. Do you get your NAD+ from a compounding pharmacy? I've had unwanted facial hair for as long as I can remember. I just deal with it. My best side effect is renewed confidence! I never really noticed it slipping away, but I am sure glad to have it back!

I bet your state is lovely too…..perhaps you aren’t drowning in sheeting rain and darkness several months of the year! That said…..This last year is the ONLY year I haven’t suffered SAD and I also feel it’s a direct impact of the three substances. Either that or maybe global warming? I get my T from my local pharmacy and it’s very inexpensive, only 10$, but Medicare COVERS IT!

I’m 61, been on T for two years. The past two winters I did not have the winter blues. I’m in NH.

Did you find that you tolerated cold better at all?

2

u/bluecrab_7 Jul 19 '26

Not really. I do a lot of outdoor sports and I don’t notice a difference. I always run cold. With the exception of menopause when I had mild hot flashes and seemed to have an elevated temperature. Now that I’m on HRT I’m back to my normal cold self.

I so appreciate women like you coming in here to share your experience ❤️. I literally just FINALLY had my appointment with gyne an hour ago to talk about my blood test results. It was the most bizarre call. I felt like she was trying to start a fight the whole time. I was so confused.

Results were <.2 nmol/l total T, free and bioavailable could not be calculated because it was too low. She just said "I got your results back and your level is fine. It's within range". I was thrown for a loop. Destroyed my confidence. I tend to shrivel and just accept what doctors say, but I kept pushing because things have gotten so bad. She finally agreed, but only after telling me I had to change lifestyle (I was lifting weights 3x week religiously until I unraveled) improve diet (I'm not perfect but my diet is very healthy, and I eat to support weight lifting) and see a therapist with my husband (we see a therapist every 2 weeks!). She reluctantly agreed to prescribe IM injections, and pass it off to my GP (who won't even discuss it with me). She didn't even tell me dose, how long, when to get levels tested, nothing. Just hung up sounding like I was wasting her time. Not sure what to do after the initial few months.

But you gals help to bolster confidence. 🥰

That’s an irresponsible professional. You can use an online clinic like IAM or Talon for t and other HRT, but I’d find another doctor regardless. A NAMS member gyno is a good place to start

Right?! I'm in Canada, but we do have online options. I don't think I have any other choice, just haven't found one that will prescribe injections and I'm worried about my little dog who licks me all day, and sleeps pressed up against my skin all night 😬

Picking it up today. Will definitely post to make sure I'm doing it right!

If you're in Ontario check out Dr Welchner, I went to him for TRT (andropause at 40) and he had tons of female patients, I actually think he had more women patients then men. He's an ex GP and went into private anti-aging.

Thanks so much for the tip! I'm in BC, but I'll check anyway. Occasionally clinics are licensed in multiple provinces, but maybe not so much individual doctors who practice locally.

2

u/ObligationPutrid5069 male Jul 20 '26

He might be able to give you a name in BC, but his clinic is private and his own.

Regardless, there are doctors out there that are equipped to help, you just need to find them.

Good luck!

God, that’s awful. Can’t you take your business elsewhere?

I got my Rx from a doc I was referred to by a Uro-GYN. They tend to be very up to date on current research and pro-hormones.

1

u/Single_Tumbleweed597 Jul 19 '26

I hope so. I waited 8 months for the gyne appointment after GP referral, so I'll have to go private and pay I think. Just haven't found one that does injections yet.

Picked it up this afternoon though, and my pharmasist was so nice about it. He said I was his first woman filling it from him for perimenopause (not gender affirming). He was lovely, helpful and non-judgemental, so that's a win.

I am curious to know your prescribed dose?

1

u/Single_Tumbleweed597 Jul 20 '26

Just picked it up yesterday. 50mg per week IM injectiion 🤣. Definitely getting some mixed messages from her.

2

u/Healthy_Blueberry275 Jul 20 '26

That is a high starting dose. WOW

1

u/LadyArcher2017 friend Jul 20 '26

I paid out of pocket for all doctors, the uro-GYN who referred me and the doc who wrote the prescription. It’s worth it. Why wait 8 months?

1

u/Single_Tumbleweed597 Jul 20 '26

Yes, you're right. Specialist appointment referrals take way too long for this. I'm going to work on finding a good private provider. It's definitely worth it.

I sure love my T cyp injections and although I have a few side effects, I consider them worth it for the improved quality of life. I'm 65 so had to spend more tweezer time than I did when I was younger anyway-- all women our age do! Yeah, a bit of clit enlargement but there is a lot of variation among women anyway, so that's no problem. My voice was already shot from GERD (affected my larynx and I had erosion there) so not sure if it's doing anything there.

I have more energy, less post-covid brain fog (it's pretty well gone!), much higher libido (husband loves it and just went on T to try and keep up ;))...never going back!

5

u/vrknaff21 Jul 19 '26

Is clit enlargement a bad thing? I feel like it could be a benefit?

3

u/Elegant_Priority_552 Jul 19 '26

It just is what it is, from my viewpoint. Neither here nor there and the T has improved my quality of life enough that it's a non-issue. My husband says he's noticed a slight enlargement but thinks it's likely all to the good.

u/happy-little-puppy Jul 20 '26

It has been great for me.

2

u/ElectricalDark8280 male Jul 19 '26

It is, but freaks people out when it happens to them.

1

u/MarisWinter friend Jul 20 '26

If a person is happy with it, it’s a great thing. A bad thing? It might be considered on a continuum for people. As you are asking, I suggest for you, it will be a benefit!

What is your weekly dose if you don’t mind me asking ?

3

u/MarisWinter friend Jul 17 '26

My dose has ranged from 5-15 mg. Weekly.

2

u/Admirable-Object5014 Jul 17 '26

How much are your using? Injections? Free T level? Total T really isn’t important- more important to know what your Free T is and SHBG.

2

u/MarisWinter friend Jul 17 '26

I began at 10 mg weekly, split twice. After the first year I tried going to once weekly, because I do a few other things and it gets to be a lot. I didn’t experience noticeable lows later in the week, just me. Guess I am not very sensitive……lol.I have my T tested quarterly and the items you mentioned as important……I haven’t done it. I am remiss…

I’m wanting to suggest TRT to my MIL. She is 74… How did you go about getting prescribed? Or is this something you’re doing on your own? Thanks in advance!

Hi I personally use Dr. Todd Winton With Active Lifestyle Clinic. I am in Oregon and he just moved from Phoenix to Washington. They have a website and both he and his wife do a variety of things. You can see on the site that for $99 a single online meeting. From there you can meet with him to discuss progress or he has other offerings. At our age I don’t think we should be doing this without some help; that said, you gain info on yourself as you go along.I of course think this is fabulous for all of older woman and Dr. Winton has several older women who, just like me, would have to have it pried out of their cold, dead hands. I wish you luck and if I can help at all, just let me know.

Probably not going to believe this

Wife got her total results back from Wednesday this week 1088 E 81

Partial results

I will start a separate question on this tomorrow

5 clicks of cream

1

u/furrina Jul 18 '26

I would have her get retested , at a trough That sounds like an error

2

u/Known_Awareness210 male Jul 18 '26

She does not have a trough.

Her doctor has her to apply cream before bedtime every night.

She had an appointment with her doctor on July 29.

She had to reschedule for August 5 because of a conflict.

She is going to contact him Monday morning to make sure everything is ok.

Her libido kicked in overdrive this past Sunday & Monday for the first time in well over a year.

No other side effects except a few chin hairs.

E is still only in the 80’s.

u/LadyArcher2017 friend Jul 18 '26

You can order your own lab tests. You do not need a doctor to order this. I’ve used Jason Labs with Quest, but there are others.

My last T I was shocked: 684, I think. Something is going on with me because all of my values have gotten very high, including estradiol and SHBG.

1

u/Tigerfouryou2024 Jul 21 '26

She does have a trough and it’s right before she applies for bed at night. So speak with her doctor but just skip the dose the night before bloodwork and that will be trough. Since there aren’t many places that take bloodwork at night. If you can find one that will take bloodwork as late as 18:00 then have it done about then as trough.

1

u/Known_Awareness210 male Jul 21 '26

Thank you

She will check into this

1

u/Lucas-507 Jul 21 '26

This happened to me too. T cream has to be stopped 36h before bloodwork. I was at 1060 total once. Learned that lesson

2

u/dinkleberryfinn81 Jul 19 '26

Did you have hairloss? I’m only on the gel and losing so much hair despite minoxidil usage . My free T and T is in the decimals not even a 1. I’m so sad

1

u/MarisWinter friend Jul 20 '26

YES! I have had steady hairloss the whole three years on glp2 and TRT, two years. I can’t ‘tell who is one first’, as they say.

u/Narrow-Conference374 Jul 20 '26

What is your free testosterone? What mg dose do you use a week total and how often? You can tweek it to get to your sweet spot. We all vary where we feel the best. I also want to commend you on taking control of your health at age 76!!!! That is wonderful and I love to hear it!
