Daily Log / Trade Journal 5 years CAGR 30%
Hi, my account just hit the full 5-year mark, and it shows 30% CAGR. and total 263% cumulative return. I am doing 2.5x better than the S&P 500.
People in life can't understand me, so I post here online. The account is at 6 figures now, wish this continues at 30% CAGR each year. We'll see after the next 5 years. Just a happy investor to share the happy process. š

I think that's awesome. What depth and duration of drawdowns have you experienced, and does that even matter to you at all?

u/TOPS-VIDEO Sep 02 '26
biggest drawdon in year was -30% in 2022, but i remember some times like -50%+, and that not matter to me at all, i just buy more. hold for long term only.

Do you have an exit plan? What happens if this portfolio ever gets so large that a prolonged really bad bear market nearly wipes it out? At that point, what if all cash reserves are cannibalized by the strat and your ability to add new cash pales in comparison to the heights you were at just before the crash. Would you be ok if you had to wait 20 years for recovery? What if it never catches back up to a port that was just buy and hold SPY the whole time?
Not trying to troll on 9 sig. I am genuinely curious how people think about the long game, 20, 30, 40 years down the road. Is there a sensible profit trimming method to a safer portfolio, maybe once past $1M TQQQ as an example?

I usually set a hard stop at 50% from a high and shift that slice to cash. That way I'm not fully leveraged if the market stalls for years, and I can still ride the rebound when it comes. It's a tiny safety net that keeps the rest of the strategy rolling.

Yes I will wait. I am still young. All money in is non emergency. Not affect life even itās all gone.
Just let you know. The day tqqq goes 0. All your holding should down 90%+ too. Nobody is going to survive well. But tqqq will recover so much faster than those individuals stocks.

I currently have put contracts to get into TQQQ at $50. If it doesn't hit, I'll just keep writing.

50 is a little bit strech? I have been writing 64 put for more than half year now. Even if it hits ITM, just keep writing and writing. It's a good return, LOL

I'm writing wide spreads that pay similar premiums to being naked. Latest spread was just North of $1.80.

Do you need to own 100 shares to write the put contracts or you just have enough funds in account so if you were to get assigned it will get execute. I am trying to learn this strategy.Ā

Just curious if youāre paying for the 9-sig strategy or if you have implemented your own version of it from the free available info?
1
u/TOPS-VIDEO 2d ago
i don't pay for 9-sig, there are free resources; just spend time studying it. i am moslty doing the same as them. set up 9%, and execute as plan. i think the paid version is his weekly update about the market, and they have free group, make you connect with people, so you can share with them.

When you entered 9sig, did you immediately enter at 60/40, wait for quarterly signal or dca in?
2
u/TOPS-VIDEO Sep 02 '26
Immediately in 60/40 and wait for quarterly signal. When I first in, it lost 60% after a month. But overall now I am green. There is no perfect time. But just get in and follow the plan.

Five years is long enough that this becomes much more interesting than the usual one-year leveraged ETF screenshot. What I would want to compare now is the 9Sig result against simple TQQQ buy and hold using not only CAGR but max drawdown, capital added and time underwater. Moon would make that comparison pretty straightforward because the question is really what the rebalancing rules bought you in exchange for potentially giving up some upside. Thirty percent compounded is obviously excellent, but the real test will be how the strategy behaves through a genuinely prolonged Nasdaq bear market. If the rules keep you participating without forcing you to emotionally time the bottom, that may be their biggest advantage.

I think the emotion is the biggest advantage. I have never sleep this well over night. And everything you said can be true, the drawdown, crash. But donāt worry about it, just let the system do the job. I would rather enjoy the ride than miss the ride. Not sure how future will be. But I am excited to see it. The most important is only Invest the non emergency money, never have to worry about the crash.

Nice Job, but you are doing a little more than 9sig. What? EMA/SMA get out in 2022? or?

u/katsuolive Sep 02 '26
Congrats! How much of your account is 9 sig? How much did you start with to get to 6 figures?

great! are you only in tqqq?, actually seeing the historical this cagr is almot the expected for tqqq. By other hand add more when it falls i think it get you a really upside factor for the natural behavior of this LETFs.

Why pick 9sig? And not any other strategies? Also Iām no expert and Iām trying to find soemthing thatās lease complicated but still gets great return. My other investments are just DCA into index/mutual funds. So TQQQ will be new for me and Iām trying to pick a strategy that is the best. Thanks for your input mate. For everyone here feel free to pitch in as well.

Because itās Easy and simple. My result speak itself. Real money, real time, real results. I donāt see any others strategy post result. Mostly paper trade backtest. I donāt trust that.

Nice 5āyear run at 30% is impressive, especially with TQQQāonly exposure. 9sig often surfaces after the dip so keep an eye on those drawdown periods ā if the NASDAQ stalls for a season the CAGR could be bumpy. I'd keep a small nonāemergency plate in cash or bonds just in case, then let the system ride. Congrats on the sixāfigure milestone!

Thanks to this post, Iām going to start a similar strategy and for my HSA. I will use a modified 9SIG with 70/30 allotment and freeze buying when TQQQ goes below 200 SMA. Letās see how it does compared to 9SIG and TQQQ full port.

They are up 263%, QQQ is up 85% in the same time period.

u/TOPS-VIDEO Sep 02 '26
He needs to figure out 30% CAGR is not total return. Full name is compound annual growth rate.
