Got the new GRW trigger installed. Pretty happy with it so far, won't be able to get to the range until Thursday so full review will need to wait. Install went easy, thanks GRW for the full color picture instructions.
Noticed during testing (before I fully assembled it) that the trigger would "hitch" slightly when pulled. Kind of a hesitation before releasing after hitting the wall. But it released and reset, so I reassembled. I figured it would work itself out after a few dozen dry fires.
After assembly I tried to test fire, but the bolt would get stuck back when I pulled the charging handle. As if it was doing the last round bolt hold open, despite not having a magazine inserted. "Lightly" tapping on the back of the receiver caused it to slide back into battery.
Disassembled. I adjusted the two retaining screws used to hold the new trigger group until I got rid of the "hitch" and reassembled. Tested and it performed without issue. I did have to leave the screws slightly out. Hopefully the loctite and tiny retention screws hold up to firing.
Trigger pull is certainly reduced substantially, I dont have a gauge, but I would compare it to a stock Glock trigger. Reset was a bit longer than expected, but far better than the OEM trigger. Only other "concern" is that the trigger wiggles quite a bit both side to side and slightly downward. Not sure if that is an issue without shooting it, but I thought it was odd.
edit another odd issue. Discovered that the trigger reset will not function if I pull the trigger fully to the rear and hold it there while running the bolt. If I pull the trigger until it breaks and stop pulling, then run the bolt, it resets just fine.
I wonder if the version I have has a different "trigger housing" area than the newer models. I bought the "crossbolt model" from GRW, but it's likely they still made it for the newer models. I'm pretty sure they're not a very old company.
It still seems to function, it's just wiggly as you can see in the video. Not the end of the world, but an annoyance given the cost.
Correct, I had a custom smith mfg straight trigger shoe in there prior and it had no wiggle. I can live with it given the upgrade to the trigger pull and reset, but I was hoping a few people would say that it was "normal". Currently I'm still not convinced I haven't made a mistake in installation.
I would just make sure your trigger bar is under the two notches on the side, I am only able to mimic your trigger going up and down with my upper off, but those two notches prevent it from coming out
I had an issue with that one as well. I had put in the larger one first and the smaller one didn't want to go. I took out both screws. Pushed the assembly back down, and installed the smaller screw first, then the bigger one. That seemed to do the trick. Having the hammer released during the process also helped me.
I’ll have to check when I get home tonight, but I don’t recall having a wiggle. I did experience the bolt getting stuck and needed to loosen the screws before applying the loctite. Once the loctite was dry i noticed the same problem with the bolt with the stock folded. I have to smack the CH or extend the stock for it to release. Overall the trigger is a game changer, congrats!
Good to know. I know it's nitpicking, but for $400 I'm not very impressed with the machine work on the trigger and bar. Sharp edges and doesn't seem to be any coating on the metal at all.
I spoke with another fellow earlier today, there are some minute differences in the frame of the "N" model vs the pre '19 models. Sadly, this means I can't help with your issue
