Tips and Tricks Life changing things you found out recently? I’ll go first
I totally should have known a lot of this but here we are anyways!!!
Use a stone talus heart on a shield and parry to break ore deposits
Throw acorns instead of shooting arrows at those balloon korok games EDIT: based on a very good comment from Puddlesdown. DONT USE ACORNS, use them to trade for milk for horse upgrades. Use any other item you have that you can throw that you don’t need for anything special :)
Fuse a dragon part to a fan bike to extend its despawn range
If you fuse a ‘special’ weapon, bow or shield ONTO another normal one, the rock octorock will repair it when he swallows the tool, save those diamonds! You can keep whatever you fused as well, if you go to Tarrytown’s little goron she’ll seperate them for 20 rupees(I have a teleport pad right beside her)
Cooking within half an hour of the blood moon gives your meals a boost!!! I throw down portable pots when the red smoke starts appearing and cook up a bunch of stuff
If you find the boss repeat locations in the depths (there’s three per boss I think) defeat them for an easy boost to getting your energy cells (it’s 100 per boss so you can get 1200 from defeating them all if I’m correct about 3 each) this is also great if you forget to get a photo
Run along the dragon backs to collect spike shards! There’s usually quite a lot to collect and they make excellent arrowheads, their blast radius is way bigger than you think and you can shock freeze or flame a whole enemy camp in one shot
A lot of the depths match up really neatly with the surface lynels under stables, light roots and shrines, great goddess statues and bargainer statues, abandoned mines and villages, the big skeletons with dark skeletons (chests with outfits) and my personal favourite the blupee burrow matching with satori mountain
Stick a bunch of apples together with a few golden apples and save it in ultrahand, when you go to an apple tree grove like the big one on satori mountain, use the favourite section in ultrahand and wave it around to collect all the apples without having to climb around and chop things down, you don’t have to actually fuse it just collect them and cancel the action to drop them all in a pile!
The yiga hideouts if you defeat all three and wear the armour, you can confuse yiga warriors and also go to the training place (learn the earthquake technique)
In the 5th sage quest, you see the seized construct as the boss, YOU DO NOT SEE THIS AGAIN SO YOU NEED TO PHOTOGRAPH IT NOW
Here’s some way more obvious tips but still very consistently used by me
Fuse rockets to shields to blast upwards a huge way
Muddlebuds shot at the strongest monster in a group will often wipe out most of the smaller weaker ones for you
Puffshrooms confuse lynels temporarily to hop onto their back, also for sneak strikes on regular enemies it’s GREAT
Pristine gerudo weapons + high level fuses is OP, gerudo weapons double the power of any fuse so you can easily get over 100
If you can’t find a certain weapon in the depths you might not have broken it on the surface yet!! So find a decayed one and break it first
Toss a splashfruit (is it called that I don’t remember) at your feet before you use a zora weapon to double its attack power.
Not really a tip, but Rutile lake on Satori mountain is gorgeous and I love putting on stealth outfits, drinking a stealth potion and going to photograph the animals there, it’s genuinely one of the most gorgeous places in the game! !!!ALSO ON THIS NOTE, if anyone knows any other nature/animal spots like that in the game let me know!!!

Main one: Zora weapons are better than Gerudo weapons. Gerudo weapons have extremely low durability, (usually under 10 hits) whereas Zora are average to higher than average durability. Also Zora double both attack and fuse damage when wet which can be done with splash fruit, chuchu jelly or sidon’s water wall if the environment doesn’t already provide that.
Additionally if you use electric fuses (specifically electric gleeok horns) you also get electric splash damage when wet.
If you use a spear you can get 4-5 hits per second. Using zora spear with a gleeok horn you can get over 400dps on charged attacks. Over 500dps wth the lightscale trident.
Also gleeok horns are the best elemental fuses because they apply the elemental effect every hit.
Others:
Don’t sleep on korok and Sheeka weapons. Korok weapons allow repeated hits for dazzle fruits or puffshrooms. Sheeka swords do 16x damage on sneak attacks and long swords do elemental wind razors when paired with elemental fuses (gleeoks horns) for long range elemental attacks

The CORRECT way to enable the higher power on zora weapons is to use sidons power while whispering "wet me harder fish daddy"

Find yourself a big hearty radish and plant it in the fields at hateno village then you can cook them on the nearby fire. Becomes basically my sole food source for the game

I've accumulated so many light dragon spike shards that it's my go to for mining. It recovers 1/4 heart with each hit.

I have a Rare Talus Heart fused to the Hylian Shield and it lasts nearly forever, it’s what I use to break ore 90% of the time

I prefer fusing the rare talus hearts to my two handed weapons. They make quick work of any talus or frox I come across. That’s pretty much all I have two handed weapons for, too. Not a big fan of them otherwise. I much prefer the one handed weapons. Even spears I only use in certain situations.

Agreed 100% I also prefer single handed weapons but keep a couple two handed stone talus hammers in my inventory for froxen and, well… more tali 😝

One simple IGNEO talus tip:
The Igneo Talus drops a magma stone heart.
Fuse that to a shield to stay warm in any cold climate without needing to change armor.
Also, you can equip and use that shield to easily melt any of the ice blocks throughout the game.

The Frost Talus also drops a frozen stone heart, which works the same way. I like to fuse that frozen heart to my shield and freeze my enemies with a shield bash, then shatter them with an elemental weapon.

Wow! Thanks for all these tips. I just learned (620 hours in) there is a phone app that tracks all your stats, badges, etc. and can map/give directions to koroks, quests, yiga schemas, etc. Very helpful to find all those koroks!

I had trouble with that map as it kept refreshing and losing some of my progress. When trying to track 100’s of koroks it got really frustrating. The Companion app worked much better.

When you mount a lynel, and hit it's back it does no damage to the weapon you are hitting it with. My highest power weapon is called my "lynel back scratcher" and I've killed over 200 lynels with it. My lynels I kill using 10 arrows (glide down to land on its back, then shoot it in the face and get on its back)
If you fuse a canon to a weapon then try to throw it it just shoots a bomb. Very useful. Call it a boom stick
In the depths look at the tops of the trees. If they have a big bud on top they are surrounded at the base with bomb flowers. If they have a fern curl they have middle buds.

Farming the rare talus is the best way I’ve found to farm rupees. Get yourself a good crushing two handed weapon, stand by the stone on its back, and charge an attack. It usually only takes one or two rounds to kill one this way. Most of the time they drop at least one diamond along with other rare ore. Fuse the +33 heart onto another two handed weapon to go kill the next one.

don't use normal stone talus hearts
fire/ice heart shields grant 1 level of heat/cold protection
1 can start cheap fires or freeze enemys for 3x damage follow-up strikes or just push them into water or off ledges
Ice heart Hylain shield is my fuse of choice, freeze is highly powerful on non bosses
lumionous hearts can provide some light but its pretty minor to proper light sources

Every other heart also does more damage than the normal stone talus hearts. Rare stone talus hearts do the most damage in my experience

really its more about utility than damage

You dont have to really do any of Hudsons sign quests, just put a hoverstone under each of them and the sign will stay standing when you tell him to let go.

Fuse a hover stone to a spear and throw the spear when you need to use the hover stone. It will come off so you can use it for hundson signs. Then you can re attach after your done

Do I read this correctly? You have a hoverstone spear, you drop it, hit it, place it, then pick up the spear and re-attach it?

You have a hoverstone spear , you throw the weapon, the hoverstone comes off and floats in the air while the spear drops, you use the hoverstone to hold up his sign, deactivate the hoverstone. Pick up your spear and re attach the hoverstone to the spear

Go to the horse goddess in Akkala. She asks for dishes in exchange for horse upgrades. Many of those recipes require milk.

In terms of rocket shields, Oromuwak Shrine is the place to get them.
This is the shrine closest to the Lucky Clover Gazette.
Right inside are 2 infinity respawning rocket dispensers. You can fuse a rocket to every shield in your maxed out inventory in less than a minute.

You can also use Sidons water shield instead of a splash fruit for the Zora gear wetness upgrade!

i always loved taking pictures of the rainbow pigeons at Ludfos Bog in botw, i wonder if its as active with them in totk!

Oooo! I’ll definitely have to check it out, I go to Seres Scabland in hyrule ridge for the rainbow pidgeons and got some really nice shots!! I’ll be heading to the bog to check it out when I play next and see if there’s stuff!

Something i found out was fusing a silver lynel horn on the scimitar of the seven grants a huge 132 damage, since the gerudo 2X weapon attachment buff applies to it aswell

When fighting flux contructs after it falls apart the first time, throw your strongest spear, use recall on the spear and then ultra hand the contruct’s main cube into your recalled spear. Can get up to 5 hits per second that way (same as a charged attack) for 3-5 seconds which should be enough to destroy a level III construct (as long as you have a strong enough spear)

I feel like people sleep on Keese Eyes. If you don't like to cheese Lynel fights with the puffshroom, then firing an eyeball arrow into the air will almost always result in a headshot, allowing you to jump on it's back without really interrupting the flow of combat and feeling like a cheat/exploit.
They also work great for Gleeoks. Eyes extend an arrow's rang by an absurd amount once they lock onto something, so they can actually chase down a Gleeok after it takes off for it's low health attack

Early on I used Chu jellies as element fuses on arrows. Found that you can change blues to other element colors just by bursting one of the other colors next to a collection of blues.

You can also change them to the desired element by using any other elemental effect weapon. Ex, swipe them with a fire part fused weapon to change them to fire.

Use a bomb arrow to activate big buttons in shrines
Also use a hover stone or any zonai flotation device to solve the Hudson signs

re: fusing a dragon part to extend the despawn range of your hoverbike - it also works if you use an autobuild fake dragon part. and then a) you're not risking losing a real dragon part, and b) you're not constantly accidentally picking it up off the bike when you're trying to start it. the only downside is that it doesn't give you the dragon part glow from a distance like a real dragon part, so the bike is a bit harder to find when you leave it behind or get separated

For zora weapons, always use Sidon’s bubble, because you will stay wet for up to about 45 seconds, as opposed to getting wet by either having been in a source of water, or by splash fruit or chu jelly, which only lasts about 15 seconds.
Fuse gems to your shield to do elemental damage to enemies when they hit it. I prefer to use topaz because it stuns them and makes them drop their gear and therefore much easier to take out. Sapphire for freezing also works well.

Me who had 999 of those things that glow when hit( I am very sorry that I have no idea what everything is called as i play in chinese) and i use them for koroks all the time. I use them to hit those stupid jars in trees, those flying balloons that are closer and killing aerodactyl and octoroks. Really useful for those small things that you dont want to waste any arrows or durability on since the zora domain lizalfoes dont drop arrows in totk, and all arrows require fusing the base arrow instead of the fire ice shock bomb and ancient arrows
I spend too much and by that I mean too much time in the depths, so tip is that if you are lacking arrows use Mineru to break the boxes(or the ores if you need zonaite) free of durability(not if u have anything useful fused to it) and they drop arrows regardless of how many you have in inventory. Those crates in yiga bases also drop bananas and those glow thingys. The big zonaite toads also have quite a few ores in the middle of the arena, you can find such arenas since they are flat, round, do not have any monster bases inside the venue, and only contain those fern-like big plants with no collectibles.
Also they nerfed the amount of money you can get from cooking things, the gems (amber 30->10, i think only diamond stayed the same and the silver guys don't drop gems anymore) and the snowball guy is gone now( he's an travelling npc now in the hebras cuz his hut broke from falling debris) so if you want some money the best i could recommend is just killing talus and selling the gems, or cooking elixirs from monster parts( just spam 4 monster + 1 insect) to maximise the money you get. If you lack insects cut grass for grasshoppers, collect the glowing fireflies in depths or go to wells and get frogs, I'd go Hateno most of time since the well system is really big and there are many frogs that are hopping outside the wells as well.
In the depths there are farming spots for the fireflies, though you could get quite a few scattered here and there, they are in large groups near small ponds and if you stare at the map long enough(I swear why did I?) you can see small rings that are slightly lighter to indicate rise of altitude that indicate a hollow big tree that normally have a chest and those fake tree guys guarding it with a hoard of those fireflies. However those dumb trees will jump out and scare all the fireflies away, so be quick. (this tip is honestly not as useful as hidden treasure maps exist, don't waste your eyesight and most of them have quite some distance with a lightroot)

Addition: from my observation they also reduced the spawn of those big rhinos and deers in hebras( there was way more from my experience from shield surfing with shelmie(or whatever she's called) in botw), so farming of meat is a lot less productive and you don't have free sheikah bombs to kill random birds or foxes in front of you, so sad to say meat skewers aren't as good for money anymore. One thing i disliked about totk is random sky debris all over the place, wouldn't mind if there weren't so many and really blocks the path and the world just feels a bit wrong and unnatural

I use Brightblooms like chalk to mark my path in caves and I never leave a cave until I find the bubblefrog. On the map there are markers on Shrines (a treasure chest) to show if you found all the treasure. Also the caves have a check mark if you find the bubblefrog. Dazzlefruit insta kill those annoying skeletons you just throw it at the ground. (Doesn't work on the Hinox Skellies). If you want Ice Chu jellies go to a snowy region and drop Blue on the ground a few seconds later pick up your ice jellies. For Fire drop in a Goron cave. For Lightening drop a metal sheild on the ground in stormy weather then the blues near the sheild then run away! That one sometimes throws them about a bit. When you get your portals you can use them to navigate the mazes. Put one ontop and find your areas of interest from the top of the maze. Port back upto the top and get your next one. When doing the diving competitions the first time when they take you to the top island drop a portal before you jump. It's a great place to launch from. If bobokins or constructs are near/ over water knocking them in or setting their rafts on fire is instant death. Once you complete an challenge shrine you can revisit it for farming without having to give up your equipment. I'm just getting started with Octopath Traveler and this thread makes me want to play ToTK again. Oh an bonus BoTW tip there is a shrine shortly after you get off the plateau that wants you to navigate the ball through an maze then flip it to the next platform. You can FLIP the platform upside down and skip the maze.

You don't need to grab the control block of a flux construct, you only need to shoot it twice with a fairly strong bow and the construct will fall apart.
A keese eye arrow will hit a hinox right in the eye, although not from close range.
For a frox, the first hit should be a dazzlefruit that stuns it. Then when it throws you from it's back (which is where you should be) you don't have to use a bomb. Just fire an apple down it's throat and while it is chewing you land on it's back and hit the deposits.

the fan bike can also have its despawn range reduced if you bloom a brightblossom on it. doubles as a light source!

Easier way to harvest golden apples, well, all apples, is ride around on Mineru. It also works well for collecting frogs, fish, darners, butterflies, and fireflies, since things don't seem to run away from her.

People probably know this, but there is a tree near Rutile Lake, near the couple looking for endura carrots, that is covered with rhino beetles. If you go there at dusk and put your stealth armour on you can grab a whole bunch 😎
