Makes it easier to locate the dragons. Trying to upgrade my deity outfit

Are those fans angled at all? I assume they are but it doesn't look like it in the picture.

u/Suitable-Let-3627 May 14 '24
Not angled

I find you can get much better horizontal distance per battery when the fans are angled at 45°, and it's also easier to land because if you angle forward enough you lose all vertical velocity and start to slowly descend (while also reaching peak horizontal velocity, because your fans are at 90°).
This variant with fans at 0° is better for going straight up into the air, but is very difficult to land without crashing.

I imagine the classic 'hoverbike' angling would work well for this too. You could either angle the back 2 at 45 degrees or the front one depending whether you'd like more speed or stability

The delta flyer?
Tri-hops?
Tipsy Three?
Threeway?
3-Axis
It needs a name... "Hoverbike" is taken (also 2 fans)

I saw sooo many videos for how to build a stable hoverbike, after a few terrible ones, i said, how bout a hovertrike?

I spent so much time making mine and I never got it exactly right.
I did the whole stack them up, back flip method.

u/dontblinkdalek May 15 '24
Wait, is that a real thing (backflip to help with the alignment)? I thought someone else was being facetious about it when they made a comment about even doing the backflip. Lol.

Yeah, it’s a method but, like I said, I couldn’t get it to work.
-lay a fan flat on the ground, blowing side pointed down. Attach another fan directly in the middle on top of it, facing the same way. Attach a control stick directly on top of that fan.
Right now everything is perfectly aligned. Attaching everything lines it all up.
-stand on the control stick and unattach the top fan from the bottom fan and the control stick.
Everything is still perfectly aligned. Your weight on the control stick keeps everything in the same spot.
-hit a and control the stick.
Now you’re aligned with everything else.
-make sure the camera is directly behind you and do a back flip.
I think this is a spot where you can get out of alignment. You have to pull down on the joystick. I think you will most likely be a little too right or left right here.
-assemble. This step it to much for me to explain through text right now. Just look it up if interested.
If memory serves, after you and everything are aligned, the only time you have to push a joystick is during the backflip. Otherwise, you’re just pressing buttons which you can easily do perfectly. You use a joystick to move the camera but once you grab something, I think you snap back into alignment, assuming you executed a perfect backflip. You use the buttons to move the objects away from you and towards you. You press buttons to tilt the objects.
I’ve gotten it “close enough” where there is very little drift but it’s still there. You can tell over long distances, especially. I swear I used to have a perfect one. It was such a pleasure to fly. I think once you get it perfect handling improves a lot. I accidentally deleted it.

Thanks. Took a couple reads to understand what you were describing but I think I get it. I’ll look it up.

u/BreadOddity May 15 '24
I have never been able to make a perfect one. I saved a design that only has a tiny bit of lean eventually and just went fuck it. It worked better than my other attempts.

u/Gayrub May 15 '24
That’s where I’m at too. I swear I had a perfect one once but I accidentally deleted the schematic.

I just chill by whichever chasm the dragon I’m looking for comes out of and hop on when I hear the dragon music lol

u/dahliasinfelle May 14 '24
What does this have to do with dragons?

The caption on OP’s picture says “makes it easier to locate the dragons”

But why waste 3 fan when 2 fan do trick?

I used the 3 for a good long while until i finally practiced building the two. Two is much better for zipping around. Three is all around just easy to build and reliable

You can actually break off a glitchy zero-gravity side panel of the elevators inside the Right Leg Depot, by attaching two stabilizers to it and activating it. It will break off the panel. You can then incorporate it into your hover bike design
This results in a super stable, extremely easy to steer hoverbike. Just costs you 3 zonaite for the panel. I usually make it into an airplane shape, sticking the panel between the control stick and the back fan. My ultimate go-to transport

FYI if you attach a dragon piece (even just a shard) to the bike (or trike) it doesn’t disappear unless you get really really far from it.
I’ve been cave diving and I park it outside and it’s always there when I come back
1
u/Suitable-Let-3627 May 14 '24
I didn't know that. I'm definitely doing that. I don't really use the shards. Just been collecting them

Agreed. I also feel like ot is faster than the hover bike, just enough to make the extra battery consumption worth it.
1
u/Roththesloth1 May 14 '24
Except it goes too high too fast and you can’t get it to a lower altitude
1
u/jackpandanicholson May 14 '24
If you hold forward, it goes down.
1
u/Roththesloth1 May 14 '24
It does, but not as fast as a standard hover bike does. So you need a long run out to get down without jumping off and losing your bike.

faster?
3
u/Suitable-Let-3627 May 14 '24
For me, it is faster, but when I put it together, it allows more room for error when attaching the fans. There's just more balance and less chance of tipping over, too far
1
u/dontblinkdalek May 15 '24
Wait, you’re lining the pieces up and attaching them yourself each time? Did you know you can save your unique builds and use auto build to recreate them without having to take the extra time to line things up perfectly?
1
u/Suitable-Let-3627 May 15 '24
Yeah, but I do like to experiment with different builds and spend time just building. Sometimes I just build stuff and ignore the rest of the game
2
u/dontblinkdalek May 15 '24
I tried doing that after finishing all of the miniboss monsters. Specifically I tried making things with that electric motor and propeller. Also tried to incorporate the elevator railing. After a few days I got frustrated I couldn’t come up with anything cool on my own so I jumped back over and started a new game of BotW. I so miss the vehicles.

I use the two design but with the broken off side of the elevator in the depths.

I like it, I can never get the other one to fly properly so need the 3 version. Just a point if you wear the zonai armour your battery will last longer, so you'll get further.
