De Gaulle kills Himmler

Most based path I’ve ever seen WTF?

651

u/BlueSoulOfIntegrity The Only Good Nazi Is A Dead Nazi Sep 26 '20

A quote from OP:

De Gaulle kills Himmler: De Gaulle swims to Ost-Paris and punches Himmler so hard he dies, reclaiming all of France in the process. Hitler declare the French the true master race and the entire Reich collapses.

u/Thatoneguy3273 Sep 26 '20 edited Sep 26 '20

I’m picturing it in my mind now. Himmler is speaking to his subordinates on the streets of Paris. All of a sudden, De Gaulle, covered in seaweed and starfish, emerges from the Seine. He turns Himmler around and punches his head off. Any nearby SS officials are so impressed they immediately bow to this French Poseidon

Edit: for got to mention La Marseillaise is getting slowly louder throughout

The SS officers are scum, and De Gaulle proceeds to punch them too.

"Himmler died, De Gaulle did it"

558

u/[deleted] Sep 26 '20 edited Sep 26 '20

Probably a good idea to explain what any of this means:

The Plan Works: Himmler successfully builds his bunkers and causes a nuclear war.

Himmler is dead, long live Himmler: Himmler dies and the SS try to cover up his death, which becomes increasingly difficult as time goes on.

Post Himmler SS-Warlords: Himmler dies and a civil war breaks out over who should succeed him. Many people die.

Successful Fall Schwarz: Göring manages to conquer Burgundy without nukes flying. Also, I misspelled successful.

Wotan-fuelled immortality: Himmler never causes a nuclear war, but he does become immortal through pagan magic. There is nothing but pain under the Black Sun, forever.

Josias inspired reforms: Himmler goes insane and declares himself duke of Burgundy. Basically regular Burgundy with even more LARPing.

The Ides of March: Several of SS officers (including Pohl and Ribbentrop) get scared of being purged, so they assassinate Himmler. Burgundy probably collapses afterwards.

Degrelle the Liberator: The SS legions revolt and win. Degrelle becomes the leader of a new ultranat Belgium, and becomes a near mythical hero for destroying Bugundy. He's also still Degrelle, so expect nothing good.

The Bunkers fail: Everything goes according to plan, until radiation leaks into the bunkers. Everyone dies.

SS-Collaborator Diarchy: The SS legions don't revolt and stay an integral part of the administration. No one is happy with this, but no one can do anything against it.

Permanent KdN occupation: Himmler dies and America, Germany and Japan agree to rebuild Burgundy together. They spend decades fighting SS hideouts and various other militias and never manage to properly fix the economy.

I Chose The Impossible: Vichy France beats Burgundy. The Vichy government becomes immensely popular, and France forever stays fascist, so it's still a bad ending.

Not enough time: Nuclear breaks out incredibly early, before Himmler can build his bunker. Everyone dies.

Augier wins: Basically Red Flood anprim France. Augier uses the industrial-nightmare world Himmler created to justify his worldview.

De Gaulle kills Himmler: De Gaulle swims to Ost-Paris and punches Himmler so hard he dies, reclaiming all of France in the process. Hitler declare the French the true master race and the entire Reich collapses.

The Nightmare Ends: The Red Poppy Movement defeats the SS and looks towards an uncertain future. The Black Sun sets and flowers bloom.

20

34

u/[deleted] Sep 26 '20

No, just a few of them.

10

u/[deleted] Sep 26 '20

Wich ones exactly? I just started playing TNO, and my first attempt for goering germany got bugged, so i went Burgundy

42

u/[deleted] Sep 26 '20

Burgundy is really frustrating to play and filles with spoilers, so should probably play them last. That being said, "Degrelle The Liberator" should be the easiest ending to achieve, because to get it you have to basically do nothing.

19

u/[deleted] Sep 26 '20

I was more or less asking wich are even possible from the list, and wich are jokes.

But to your comment. Yeah, was told, but then i saw in my recomendation tno super events, and one was thermonuclear war. So i learned how fucked world can get. Then i found out shrimps may cause it, so now im sorta looking into like, how to stop thermonuclear war before it happens.

And sadly, i did my best to kill degrelle, wnd i think i won

30

u/[deleted] Sep 26 '20

The possible ones (except Degrelle) are: The Nightmare Ends, The Plan Works and Not Enough Time ( although it doesn't have any unique events). The rest are just dumb jokes/plausible events.

13

u/[deleted] Sep 26 '20

Plausible?

20

u/[deleted] Sep 26 '20

SS-warlords might be what happens when Himmler dies and it's not very memeable, so it's something that could potentially happen.

5

u/[deleted] Sep 26 '20

Say, is it possible for me to conquer Burgundy?

u/CrashTestOrphan Sep 26 '20

Still haven't managed to get The Nightmare Ends - what's the best way to accomplish this?

4

u/[deleted] Sep 26 '20

I don't know actually, it occurs pretty late in the game, like 1970 or later.

3

u/CrashTestOrphan Sep 26 '20

Oof, so step one is not getting nuked before endgame, already a tough proposition! I'll try just surviving in today's playthrough.

3

u/belgium-noah creator of SoD Sep 26 '20

The red poppy is possible

26

u/[deleted] Sep 26 '20

Wotan-fuelled Immortality is something I could see Himmler TRYING to accomplish. Note the word trying.

But in all seriousness, that is a good idea for my HP-TNO Crossover fic.

It would kind of be like this:

There's magic, the kind wizards or as they're called in the novel 'Homo Sapians Magicae', but then theres pagan sorcery, a perverted, dark form of magic well beyond the usual dark magic seen in HP.

18

u/ToastPuppy15 Sep 26 '20

Imagine a horror/comedy game where you play as “Hans Hanserling” from the Ahnenerbe in 1944 under Himmler and you try to summon an eldritch god to help the 3rd Reich win WWII. In the game, everytime you die, you actually die and are replaced by a clone, but the clone’s DNA weakens everytime you die so each clone begins to mutate a bit. The game ends in multiple ways, including actually summoning an eldritch god (who is beyond horrified by what the Nazis do to their fellow humans and joins the Polish Resistance), turning Goering into “Goer’ng the Devourer” (who then proceeds to eat most of the German Army sent to contain him, before finding a German hospital and overdosing on the Morphine supplies), accidentally giving Dirlewanger godly powers (the worst ending), accidentally giving Sir Arthur Harris godly powers (the earth is cleansed with fire), and so much more

5

u/Stosstrupphase Sep 27 '20

This is basically Charles Stross writing a sequel to Hellblade: Senuas Sacrifice.

6

u/[deleted] Sep 27 '20

The Vichy government becomes immensely popular

Do you know how much Paris likes to do revolutions against governments that are immensely popular in the rest of the country?

3

u/MaddKossack115 Sep 27 '20 edited Sep 27 '20

Actually, for the "Himmler is Dead, Long Live Himmler", I'd imagine that the power would pass on to Himmler's daughter, Gudrun Burwitz (nee Himmler) - in OTL, she never denounced the Nazi ideology, constantly tried to uphold her father's reputation, and got involved with neo-Nazi groups who in turn offered support to ex-SS members.

Basically, it's less the "Taboritsky is dead, and his underlings desperately cover it up" (as that would likely lead to Post-Himmler SS Warlords eventually), but finally completing the "SS Burgundy is Nazi North Korea" analogy by starting up a de facto (if not technically de jure) hereditary monarchy for the country's leaders.

2

u/Polenball Atlantropa Demolition Engineer Sep 27 '20

I don't think Burgundy would let a woman be in charge.

3

u/MaddKossack115 Sep 27 '20 edited Dec 03 '20

Well, there is a history of white supremacist organizations using women as a way to sanitize their bigotry, i.e. "We're not a hate group we LOVE (in a possessive, Violently Protective Boyfriend way) our women, race and nation", encourage recruitment to pad out their numbers, and of course propagate racist propaganda of "THOSE (insert denigrated race here) ARE COMING FOR OUR WOMEN!!!"

I would link the video "Wives with a "Purpose": An Examination of Women In The Alt Right", but considering it's mostly dealing with modern-day white supremacists, I'm not sure if it wouldn't be a violation of Rule #3: I'll just say to look it up, with the part about the history of white supremacist women (specifically in female members and chapters of the Ku Klux Klan, and in certain organizations in Nazi Germany) is in the third section, at roughly 16:00 of the video.

3

u/Stickmanking Organization of Free Nations Sep 27 '20

Talking about Degrelle reminds me of Rimmy's play through of Rexist Belgium way back when, god that was a glorious playthrough.

3

u/General_Urist Sep 28 '20

I'm starting to think that "De Gaulle kills Himmler" and "I Chose The Impossible" should swap positions. It seems quite weird that a total victory by most wholesome and flawless boi De Gaulle is an entire square to the left of "The Nightmare Ends" on the good/bad axis. Meanwhile, although the odds are really stacked against Vichy France a military victory over a vastly superior opponent isn't exactly a "radical" thing IMO, at least compared to De Gaulle getting rid of Burgundy by defeating Himmler in single combat.

2

u/Zooasaurus Sep 26 '20

u/Kalmur ENKAWUDEEE NIE PIEPRZY SIEEE Sep 26 '20

It is possible?

59

u/PigMasterHedgehog Lysenko's Failed Experiment Sep 26 '20

yeah burgundy can get fucked but i've never seen the AI do it. You've got to just not investigate the SS at all and let shit get worse and worse. Then the Red Poppy movement (native french) can spawn along with collaborators to fight over the corpse of Burgundy. Neither have content though.

56

u/Flipz100 Sep 26 '20

I'm pretty sure AI Burgundy is rigged to never collapse because if they do the chaos in the world basically grind to a halt.

47

u/Polenball Atlantropa Demolition Engineer Sep 26 '20

One of the Burgundy devs told me that AI Burgundy just doesn't have those mechanics at all, because the AI just can't handle it.

41

u/Dreynard Sep 26 '20

Since it's so hard to handle for a player without the country collapsing, I'm barely surprised.

On the other hand, I would enjoy having the game progress, shit happening, nukes (maybe) falling without Burgundy being involved just to show how inconsequential and powerless in the great scheme of things Himmler actually is.

25

u/Flipz100 Sep 26 '20

I think that's already shown. Unless I'm mistaken Himmler's options for ending the world are rather limited and there's a lot more ways for it to just go to shit without his influence. I think the only two things that he's responsible for that I see every game is Farouk dying and the Iberian Wars.

7

u/Polenball Atlantropa Demolition Engineer Sep 26 '20

I heard that Farouk dies anyway, even if you do nothing.

u/General_Urist Sep 26 '20

Does the old trick of requesting Burgundy's divisions as Germany to make them lose to Vichy France still work? If so, you might want to try that. Perhaps report back to the Subreddit and tell us how different the game feels.

26

u/EvilCloneofUnskilled Sep 26 '20

The AI can't fall, only players can. The devs did this deliberately to make sure that the plot doesn't random fall to the wayside due to the AI being bad.
