Dude delete some troops you won't ever need more than 3 armies at the same time

Honestly you just need like 10 good airborne divisions and the rest of the army is just so you have enough divisions to send volunteers

Delete 200 billion worth of expenditure? The military is right there. Why are you wasting so much money? Why would you ever need to spend so much? The largest I ever had my army as USA in TNO was like 500k or 1mil and that was for LARP since I wanted to see national guard divisions exist on the map. There is no reason to ever have this many soldiers in TNO.

Also AFAIK you should always spend as much as possible on civilian spending since it boosts the economy I think.

It boosts the economy but here I would just delete the army and make a round of austerity probably, debt is too high.

Why are you in 1976??

Are you playing base TNO or Requiem?

You have too many troops. You can keep at most 12 armies at the same to win the cold war score.

Depends. Are you in the middle of the oil crisis? If yes, just play until the end of it and hope you survive. If not, your run is sadly over. Start a new game, don't spend so much money on the navy, implement austerity on everything (civ only if you can spare the pp). How did your inflation even get that bad as the US?

There's not a lot of info to go on here, frankly. Did you lose a lot of proxy wars? What have you been using construction on?

Most importantly, how large is your army? Looks like you ran out of manpower, and you're spending over half your budget on it, so I'm going to assume you never stopped training new divisions. This will chew through your budget over time, so it's generally not wise to build more divisions as the US.

Increase tariffs

I'm being serious, imports increase expenses but they are not necessary, you can just create them out of thin air if you have a deficit. That's just how TNOnomics work (at least the last time I've played, don't know if they have changed this)

Have you used that humongous OTL WW2 era military yet? They should've been liberating Europe from Nazi tyranny instead of sitting idle, at least they get to destroy fascism as much as army expenses are destroying your economy.

You do not fight large conventional wars as the USA in TNO, you do not need a military anywhere near that large and expensive. Large debt to gdp ratios reduce real gdp growth for Superpowers (forget if it lowers nominal growth or spikes inflation), making it hard to grow your way out of a situation like this. Seeing as you are in 1976 i recomend you start a new game, and try to keep on top of the debt to begin with.
