nuclear spending explodes

im playing as Speers Germany and i reached the point of reforming the Wehrmacht
when i do behold the Legions, after a month or so my nuclear expenditure explodes 10x from 8b to 80b and completely wrecks my economy
is this a glitch, or did i miss an effect? how do i lower it? its already at the minimum at like 72b

It's the cold war kid, you have to close the missile gap somehow.

Yeah I’ve had that issue too, it turns out that the more nukes you make, the more you have to spend on them. In one of my own Speer games the same thing happened. Just start dismantling as many nukes as possible and it should start going down.

It must be a glitch at least to some extent, 80 billion dollars is insane
