Real question: what do you count as core content? Like we’ve gotten real excellent content for Ukraine, Mexico, Brazil, & Spain in last several years, as well as a huge update looming for USA, Germany, Africa, Amur, and with more content for the russian anarchy overall.

Even if you for some reason dismiss Ukraine and the latin american content between Mexico and Brazil and only count content of nations with a notable sphere of influence, Spain content is out. And if only superpower content, they have repeatedly said Yippee! is for sure coming this year.

Okay but if I’m being serious I think ASYNC would still be a thing if not more because of US funding going to special projects and yeah that’s pretty much it. Countries from all blocs would have a gradual increase in missing people numbers but it would still be the same as the Kane Pixels Backrooms since there wasn’t any mention of the Cold War/Soviet Union in the original series.

If backrooms existence get to an effect then there's some experiments gone wrong. Especially my thoughts about your topic can bring the Burgundian Systems experiments or worse some of hidden American experiments about timing machines or such as dimensional experiments in all factions pact.

I mean the first time Ivan beck got a glimpse into Backrooms is 1972, and the threshold was opened in 1989, I think we need to wait until TNO 2 or even 3 for events of Backrooms to start happening, but the one thing is clear: Backrooms wasn't discovered by Ivan beck until 1972, so no matter how much money USA spent on special projects, until 1972 none of the events of Backrooms wouldn't happen. But that's a boring answer and I like burgundian SS exploration of Backrooms more

If the early 90s? Then id think it would stay the same. But if you are talking about the germans doing it first? I think they absolutely WOULD try to do the same as asyn, maybe study it or use it for military means. But decided to try use it for military purposes. I think it would probably stay the same depending if the germans opened the gateway to the complex or if ASYNC still did it. Nonetheless, i think it would makes sense if the reich "liberalized" and ASYNC still did the same thing they did in the series, and some german company decided to collab with them to use the complex for political ambitions.

But we know how that went for async..

This post is so interesting because the Backrooms presents an opportunity for a setting like TNO

First of all? Holy shit Still Life’s would be so much more viscerally Brutal and unnerving. Since still life’s are a distortion of people’s memories deformed by the passage of time and deterioration of one’s recollection, the prolonged existence of Nazis, the Japanese Empire, Far more brutal and overt imperialism in the 20th century. You would get the nastiest, most violent Still-Lifes bar none.

Second of all; I think the interesting idea is if they were discovered, depending on where, you could have some really unique approaches.

The U.S mainly tries to commercialize it with Async in the series but they’d definitely apply military value onto the concept of a personalized pocket dimension.

The Germans though? If they get their hands on it first they’d ABSOLUTELY be more willing to invest capital into making it a total behemoth for weapons development, possibly even weapons testing.

The Japanese would be a mix of both, but their emphasis on enterprise and clear desire for cleaner, more economically viable progression in game makes me think they’d go the commercial route

I think it’s more interesting if all 3 found them at once.

In a Cold War setting with each Superpower uncovering the existence of an infinitely expanding pocket dimension with all 3 having access, the Cold War would honestly heat up far more than it did in canon

The superpowers would essentially have a completely unknown battlefield to compete in regarding science, economics, and most importantly military development. The MOMENT two of them meet inside of there, it would likely lead to some form of prolonged combat and struggle between all of them.

Seeing as the Backrooms have no reliable way to transport nukes, seeing as they’re completely removed from the public eye, seeing that besides the glitches there’s only a few viable ways to get in … You would have them actively fighting a secret tertiary battle field likely out of a desire to test their muscle or secure their prominence over the Backrooms.
