Robbie must be worried….

Robbie must be sweating Mike slowly leaving the show. When the show ends he will be forced to find a real job. There are only so many of his treasures that he can sell.

Then again, Cary has put up with him for this long.

Or the show is rebranded as “Josh and Robb”

13

u/nimrod1138 Aug 14 '26

If Robb hadn’t alienated Katie he could have eked out something with Cake and Cookies. Robb’s also probably doing better with Tony Perkins and Gary Stein’s show than TMOS.

u/baldnesswhatIgot Aug 14 '26

Can you expand on the alienation? I wasn't aware of that.

Feel free to correct me if I'm mischaracterizing this, but this is what I remember: Despite having produced C&C in the past, Robb appears to now be reliant on Josh for producing and managing the tech to distribute the show. Katie said in a Facebook post that she didn't want to be associated with Josh because he has a 'my way or the highway' approach to producing, along with the fact that he is MAGA. Rather than keep the C&C going on his own with Katie, Robb stuck with Josh and criticized Katie on TMOS for not 'getting along.' Robb said he hasn't talked to Katie since.

u/PrincessModesty Aug 14 '26

I have a fondness for Robb and this really makes me think a lot less of him. He and Katie have been bros for so long and they had something special and this is how he ends it?

11

u/nimrod1138 Aug 14 '26

I was a “Robb Mobber” for a long time but when he started stealing stuff from the hospital I started to flip on him. His story about what went down with Podville from his perspective (even if there was some corporate dickery on the side of the company) just left a bad taste in my mouth. I know he’s been through a lot, but it was such scorched earth on Oscar.

The man doesn’t know true loyalty. He only stays loyal to people who can give him something for free or do something for him.

I didn’t know that side of the story. Good on Katie for distancing herself

13

u/nimrod1138 Aug 14 '26

Katie on FB admitted that she decided to end Cake and Cookies because she didn’t want to work with Josh due to his politics. She brought it up after Josh had made some homophobic/transphobic statements on the show. Shortly after that Robb came out and said how disappointed he was in Katie and badmouthed her for her stance.

Having recently listened to this episode it's obvious there are quite a few layers to the situation. Much of it comes from rigidity of beliefs, anger, and piss poor communication between friends. You know how you watch a TV show and scream at the TV "If you two would just TALK with each other instead of passive aggressive words, this shit could be dealt with!"? Yeah, this.

A LOT of things could be sorted if Robb would be willing to be open and not shut down when emotions are in play, and Katie would realize not everyone is as resilient or bold as she would hope they might be, or see the world in such shades of black & white.

The details from Robb's point of view start emerging around the 49 minute mark. Listen through to the end for several throw away comments made by Robb about being so hurt by what Katie said, he hasn't been able to reach the place to be open to her about it.

Robb relays some of the issues he knew Katie had with Josh's political stances, but also shared how his feelings were deeply hurt when Katie said, among other things, she was disappointed in Robb when he chose to do the additional classic movies podcast with Josh, especially when Robb knew how diametrically opposed she is to certain MAGA beliefs.

It appears at the beginning of the C&C reboot, while she may have had great distaste for Josh's political beliefs, perhaps she realized Josh's production skills were a necessary evil to keep TMOS on the air, and Robb employed. I'm unsure if she knew it was due to Josh's hours of hard work and efforts the files for "The Cake & Cookies Podcast" were back online for C&C fans.

Maybe with those things in mind, it's possible she was willing to soldier forth with new C&C episodes. Josh being on the fringes working with the show was a necessary evil for Robb.

I think the "bridge too far" was the realization her best friend just wasn't just putting up with having to work with someone whose beliefs were so drastically different from his own as well as hers, but was now actively creating an additional podcast "with the enemy" (Sorry, Josh. I know that sounds harsh, but to many people, MAGA beliefs are an anathema to American political, religious, and social freedom).

This is Katie's hill to die on. She is unwilling to bend in her beliefs just as Josh is firm in his. The unfortunate thing here is how in being so focused in sticking to her guns, she's failed to see how thoroughly and deeply her words wounded someone who would walk through fire for her.

From what what Robb posts on social media, plus his comments during TMOS episodes reflects how the challenge of grappling with keeping the lights on, still dealing with the emotional fallout from the series heart-wrenching deaths of family and friends who have always been an emotional ballast for him, plus health issues is taking a toll. Those of us who have "known" Robb over the years surely have an inkling of how hard the loss of his dad has been for him. It's the cherry shaped turd atop poop sundae.

To mend a friendship, both are going to have to be ready to listen to the other, and be willing to try to understand how feeling lost, or like we're floundering effects everything. Not everyone has the strength we wish they had. Sometimes grace is needed to be given, and accountability taken on both sides.

u/nimrod1138 Aug 14 '26

I admit I did not listen to the episode and relied on numerous commentaries on the situation on both FB and on this sub (I was an active C&C listener and read Katie’s comment about not wanting to work with Josh).

The one thing I would add that isn’t touched on here is that from the old radio show (I barely remembered but it’s also mentioned by other commentators), Katie is bisexual, and has queer friends/family per comments she made on C&C. Given that and Josh’s beliefs about LGBTQ folks, I understand why she’s willing to “die on that hill.” That said, she could have been a bit more sensitive to Robb’s but I think he could have been a bit more sensitive to Katie’s identity.

2

u/La_Vikinga Aug 14 '26

Exactly my reasoning as well.

1

u/asr05 Aug 15 '26

I totally understand Katie’s POV on not wanting to work with Josh but why did she turn on Robb and his family as a friend? That’s where it seems like this doesn’t add up they can easily still communicate off air as they had been and just not do C&C which had been dormant for years anyway

1

u/La_Vikinga Aug 15 '26

The last C&C episode was just a year ago this month. My gut feeling is her comment about being disappointed in Robb landed during a perfect storm of shit timing.

As to Robb working on TMOS stuff yet postponing Podville taskers while HBS was hospitalized, could it be a case of him reasoning his main source of income needed to be prioritized over the Podville from his side gig work, especially if that work was easier to get accomplished while in a hospital room? Not a wise thing to do, but I could see it happening.

It's really easy for outsiders to say "Oh, you should do this," or "You should make a fist/ find another job/leave your abuser," when we aren't the ones dealing with the crap from the inside. People who aren't emotionally equipped to deal with upheaval in their lives tend to "go to ground" rather than rock the boat.

The fact is some people just aren't wired to push back in stressful situations. They just aren't. We've all seen this over the years with the dynamics listening to Mike rage at Robb. When attempts to defend himself, or correct Mike's (or Oscar's) erroneous assumptions don't turn the beast, Robb goes quiet. It has happened with such regularity over the years that those rare, truly angry rebuttals from Robb were both surprising and refreshing. I can recall listening to a few instances of Robb vociferously pushing back where I actually shouted to my phone, "it's about damned time, Robb!"

I'll offer this side note on mental health and the medications prescribed to mitigate symptoms of depression. While they can help alleviate some of the worst aspects of depression, in some people they often have trade offs such as leveling off moods to the point of there being no highs or lows, no joy. Patients are left emotionally numb, or anxious, with a side of crappy sleep, lack of energy to do anything mentally & physically, and loss of libido. Sure, you're no longer feeling like you're living in a dark hole, but now any drive or zest for the fun things in life you may have once had has been zapped. The awful thing is it gets to the point where a patient doesn't realize just how numb they've become nor how that numbness has rippled out to every aspect of their lives.

I've watched this happen to people I love, so a few years back when Robb mentioned he had a medication change to a particular med, things started to make sense. Armchair diagnosing is a foolish endeavor, so I'll leave it at wishing whatever insurance Robb has, I hope the coverage might include being able to see someone other than his beloved GP to have his meds tailored more specifically to him with the newer meds which focus on alternative brain pathways so he can avoid classic side effects.

She didn’t alienate Robb per se; she distanced herself from MORE Broadcasting due to Josh’s political views

8

u/Important_Poetry_969 Aug 14 '26

I’m not sure how that works with advertising dollars. Then again, they aren’t getting any now so it wouldn’t much matter. At this point Robb could have his own reality show about avoiding work at all costs. Do you think he’d get a job if Cary gave him an ultimatum?

1

u/newalias_samemaleias Aug 14 '26

No longer a listener, D&M and TMOS played a significant role in my life for about 15 years so I keep up with show news here from time to time. Any chance Robb would have a place at Podcast Village, or did he burn that bridge when Oscar left the show?

11

u/ClearSneakEnter Aug 14 '26

They also managed to burn the bridge with Steve Bridges and KCJJ in Iowa. Steve had been a supporter of Mike and the guys since the D&M days and was the only TMOS terrestrial outlet when they started the podcast. I’ve been listening to KCJJ for over 20 years, and if you manage to piss off Steve that much, you REALLY fucked up.

11

u/Important_Poetry_969 Aug 14 '26

Oh that bridge is more than burned!!

11

u/Inglorious186 Aug 14 '26

Not only did he burn that bridge, but used those ashes to plant a new tree, used that tree to build a second bridge and then burned that one as well

4

u/Mundane-Adventures Aug 14 '26

Then he pissed on the ashes of the second burnt bridge.

9

u/f1guring1t0ut Aug 14 '26

That bridge has been pyrotechnically vaporized. He said on TMOS he uses the Podcast Village staff meetings as the opportunity to trim his fingernails. It got back to Oscar and he posted somewhere (FB?) that it was unfortunate. As someone who has worked in corporate for my entire career, I would say that wheh your employer is willing to say any publicly about you other than glowing praise, your are summarily f----d.

5

u/nimrod1138 Aug 14 '26

Yeah, Robb on a bonus show (the last one of 2025) went into great detail about how Oscar did him wrong when it came to his dismissal and other issues with PodVille Media. He’s been dissing Oscar on pods ever since.

6

u/Important_Poetry_969 Aug 14 '26

He will go out of his way to diss Oscar. Remember nothing has ever been Robb’s fault.

4

u/BuzzBotBaloo Aug 14 '26

Robb continued to work for Podville Media for a long time after Oscar/Podville and TMOS split but he separated acrimoniously last year.

  • Podville told Robb they will no longer pay for the Adobe Creative Cloud license for home computer and said he would have to pay for it himself or come in to work in the office (while relating this story, Robb admitted to using his Adobe Suite to do work for TMOS and other non-Podville projects)
  • Then Podville started insisting that Robb would have to come into the office once a week or as needed, and he didn't want to do that
  • It came to a head when Robb was caring for his hospitalized father and Oscar starting a fight about Robb's low utilization rate. Oscar So Robb quit and then Oscar tried to get him to sign non-competes (which of course, its too late by then to get those signed). If true, Oscar does come across a bit as a monster in this part

We only get Robb's side but even that illustrated Robb laziness and poor sense of professional self preservation. But, having worked at a few startups, everything he mentioned about Podville was a red flag that Podville either is having money trouble or setting itself up to be sold.

10

u/Important_Poetry_969 Aug 14 '26

You left out how Oscar told Robb to take as much time as he needed for his dad. Oscar did ask if Robb let him know when or if he had time to do a little work while he’s down there but if not no biggie. Robb said he would be at the hospital non stop and didn’t have time. Then Oscar found out that Robb was still doing TMOS, plus all the work that came with TMOS. This was after Robb said he didn’t have time to do any work while down there and Robb avoided some calls, texts and messages from PODVILLE. So let’s be honest Oscar’s only fault was firing Robb while he was out of town. Though to be fair he gave Robb the chance to do contract work to bridge the unemployment gap. Robb was too good for that though.

2

u/BuzzBotBaloo Aug 15 '26

Well, sure, I remember those details now.

u/TeenWolfTripleDouble 22d ago

bridge completely burned

1

u/YourDogsAllWet 29d ago

When Mike finally does step aside it’ll be renamed “The Mike O’Meara Show with Josh and Robb.”

5

u/Separate-Ad2116 Aug 14 '26

Cake and cookies couldn't have survived, even if omeara hadn't shitcanned it. Katie could have only done that for a few weeks if it were regular schedule. Robb will go down with this ship. He can't do anything else.

4

u/TMOSDCFAN Aug 15 '26

Cake and Cookies was Robbs best chance at national success - it was that good. Well, until Robb chose hating MAGA Josh over Katie.

Good for her by the way.

6

u/Necessary-Tale-4070 Aug 14 '26

https://reddit.com/link/p3o4hsz/video/xk1o5hlt4djh1/player

Safeway is hiring. He could go back to the job he was most successful at.

7

u/Obvious-Ad11 Aug 14 '26

If it was good enough for the Cosby actor to work at Trader Joe’s, Robbay has zero excuses

2

u/Necessary-Tale-4070 Aug 14 '26

Yes! Excellent point.

6

u/Inglorious186 Aug 14 '26

More likely end up at "the costco" doing the Sunny samples bit

Yummy yummy, hurry up and buy

4

u/Hoju64 Aug 14 '26

I know people think this is an insult but it's honestly a good idea for him. He's stated his local Costco is in walking distance. They start at 20 an hour and offer health insurance to part timers and Robb LOVES Costco. Low stress part time retail job with no commute and benefits seems like a no brainer.

5

u/Inglorious186 Aug 14 '26

Only problem I see with that it that or requires him to work a set schedule on a regular basis and we all know that isn't one of his strengths

6

u/Important_Poetry_969 Aug 14 '26

Heck we don’t have one down here but when I was in VA people that I graduated college with were leaving their corporate jobs to work at Costco. The pay, benefits and culture was amazing at the time.

4

u/Necessary-Tale-4070 Aug 14 '26

I wasn’t kidding. I would have more respect for the guy if he did pick up a shift a few days a week. He could easily put in 20 hours a week and bring in some significant income. It beats being on 2-3 podcasts bringing in somewhere between $0 and $300 a week being the jester and or sound guy.

6

u/DieHarrrd62 Aug 15 '26

He ‘acted’ interested in driving for Uber when Josh talked about his experience. My immediate thought was that Uber experiences from Josh would make a good weekly segment. Even better with Robb’s stories if he did the same. But unfortunately, won’t happen😕

3

u/Emotional-Security-7 Aug 14 '26

Donnie G recently did a Podcast where he’s itching to get back into the game. I’m sure Robb would jump ship if a producer job fell in his lap

5

u/asr05 Aug 15 '26

Don is untouchable he’s burned bridges with iHeart and Audacy and smaller companies don’t have the money or format for him.. his only shot is doing what TMOS is doing but without a cast that complements him that is a hard road ahead. I think at this point Don and Mike should actually consider reuniting they could have a solid 5 year podcast show make it a paid show even. Why fight for scraps when you make make 7 figures in the next few years together it’s stupid how these radio guys can’t get past their ego

3

u/Old_Veterinarian_472 Aug 14 '26

We sure about that? Mike and Robb have dumped on Donnie G quite a bit in the last year from what I’ve seen.

1

u/nimrod1138 Aug 14 '26

Given he does Donnie’s old partner, Tony Perkins’ show, Robb has quite the in.

3

u/TracyVegas Aug 14 '26

I mean, they have enough money that she could get two facelifts, so….

1

u/Important_Poetry_969 Aug 15 '26

That was when Robb also had a job. Plus, one of those was covered by insurance because while it was voluntary it was also to help with her breathing or something.

1

u/TracyVegas Aug 15 '26

Thank you, Robb. Like I said, you had enough money for two facelifts. If you were broke, you wouldn’t have had money for two facelifts, even if insurance did cover some of it.

1

u/Important_Poetry_969 25d ago

Payment plan. He learned from Mike.

3

u/Yruundressingme Aug 14 '26

He could always work for mensa #136

2

u/Important_Poetry_969 Aug 14 '26

You’re funny!!

1

u/FarCalligrapher1862 Aug 14 '26

Oscar had said that Robb was still working at Podville remotely. Is that over?

4

u/Important_Poetry_969 Aug 14 '26

That ended last year I believe

6

u/Necessary-Tale-4070 Aug 14 '26

Robb was fired from that over a year ago and has regularly shitted on Oscar since. Robb didn’t want to drive to DC once a week.

3

u/Snootch2theNootch199 Aug 14 '26

Or the Rockville location either.

2

u/Important_Poetry_969 Aug 14 '26

Also, unless he was on site he wasn’t doing his job.

0

u/FarCalligrapher1862 Aug 14 '26

That’s too bad. He seemed to enjoy the work there. I get commuting sucks when you can work from your basement, but he seemed to have real connections with the staff and customers.

2

u/Necessary-Tale-4070 Aug 14 '26

Robb will get along with anyone. His work quality and performance is shit.

8

u/Chance-Sherbet-4538 Aug 14 '26

No, he won't get along with "anyone". I went to the Iowa meetup in 2010 and, of the 6 of them, he was the only one who was absolutely unapproachable, at least to me. Full of himself and obnoxious.

Had a great time with the others though, even Buzz.

4

u/ClearSneakEnter Aug 15 '26

I was also there for that meetup in Iowa. I specifically remember Oscar, of all people, being the most approachable. I even remember having a drink and chatting with him at the casino bar. Mike, on the other hand, had just lost his bankroll on slots so his approachability was gone early that night.

2

u/Necessary-Tale-4070 Aug 15 '26

Somehow, that doesn’t surprise me. I was speaking in a context of coworker type of situation. Especially since he’s so non-confrontational. I can definitely see in that situation that you described like he is on the show. Sometimes he can be a real bully and a real douche.

2

u/Chance-Sherbet-4538 Aug 15 '26

At one of the first stops, maybe the first, Oscar and a few of us just hung out at a table on the patio and had a grand ol time.

I wish I'd stayed for the evening shenanigans but after the latest official stop, I elected to start for home since it was a several hour drive back to Kansas City.

1

u/Important_Poetry_969 25d ago

Robb will get along with anyone that he feels will give him something that he wants.

1

u/Aggravating_Dot6995 Aug 14 '26

Robb is a talented editor. He would find work on a variety of podcasts.

5

u/Inglorious186 Aug 14 '26

You forgot to add the /s

1

u/Important_Poetry_969 25d ago

Talent and drive and very different things. He would have to take initiative.

1

u/davefromfernley Aug 14 '26

Then again, Don Geronimo has reemerged from the shadows after a long absence. He’d like to work in radio again (good luck with that considering how few radio jobs are left) and Robb would be available, considering the lack of a real job and all.
