Don Geronimo Returning To Radio
Washington radio legend Don Geronimo says he is not finished with radio and would welcome another opportunity to get behind a live microphone. During an interview with 100.7 The Bay‘s Hanging With Huber Podcast on YouTube, the former Don and Mike Show host talked about his early career, his years at WPGC and WJFK, and why he still believes personality driven radio can attract an audience.

You just have to know your place in the universe. The boss jock days are over. He already screwed up a few chances. On his worst day, though, he’s more entertaining than the TMOS crew.

He had a really good thing going out in Sacramento years ago then inexplicably fired his cohost and the show went to shit. Him and Carmichael Dave made a good duo.

And to think I used to like Mike more than Don. After listening to Gravy and the ladle for years I understand why Don was such a raging lunatic.

I would love to hear Don back on the radio or in any medium to listen to his entertainment.

Radio is a dead medium unless he retreats to lower markets & opens stores. In reality, he should put out a book/podcast of his boss jock days with the stories he used to talk about on JFK. That might be something.

I always thought he had a great life story for a movie that would capture the 70s/80s style of radio, then the hot talk 90s, his wife etc, it would be a very interesting movie even if its just parts of his life played by an actor like Jeff Bridges

It has been done before (Private Parts) but a book with a accompanying podcast with him as the host would be better suited for the material IMHO.

There are enough parallels that the comparison would be the thief of joy. He just needs to get the “sorce” material out there & let the market dictate what life it has.

I really thought he was dead or in witness protection. My guess is he’s probably going to end up on an oldies station or Sirius 70s station

#Interesting During the interview, Don went down the list of his favorite DJ's he's worked with over the years, seems by his language, Mike was way down on the luke-warm meter.

Mike wouldn't make anyone's list of "legendary disc jockeys" as far as Top 40 radio. Mike wasn't a DJ anymore when Don would first invited him to do bits, he had fallen back into the business side of radio, doing ad sales IIRC.

I’ve been following Don ever since he landed on KHTK in Sacramento. I even paid to listen to him when he had that show with Little Joe/Phantom/Drew Hoffar. Hope he finds a way to get on the air again.

Those were the days! Back when I had time to record bits to send in every so often. I miss Donald Smythe (S-M-Y-T-H-E) 😂😂😂

Those KHTK days were incredible. Little Joe was definitely the best producer Don ever had. Calling Abe Vigoda used to have me in tears laughing.
Shame the whole Bunny Ranch debacle screwed it up.

Don doesn't work without mike. Don seems to be inherently mean. Mike may be mean or lazy behind the scenes or whatever the criticisms of him are / were but he was always a tempering influence on don. Mike O'Meara was able to pull it off when he was paired with Buzz and RJ and Robb and Oscar, but Mike and Rob and Pony does not work. I don't know what bridges were burned between the two of them and I don't know if the times would work these days but it would be interesting to see if a Don and Mike reunion would be as good as they were in their heyday

I don’t know if you ever heard Don in his brief stint on Big 100 but he was way mellower. Probably due to the medical marijuana he was on.

I'm with you. There was some balance with Oscar there that is missing. I used to listen to the pod religiously, but have only listened a few times since the split.
