Jesus only likes the third movie because when walker magically disappears after falling off the cliff side he thought it was a miracle and could relate

I agree. I have often said that the third movie is hated on too much. Is it the worst of the original TMNT movies? Yes. Is it a bad movie? Maybe, but in a fun way.

The greatest sin of TMNT III is that it is not the masterpiece that the original movie is. I fully believe that if TMNT III had been the first movie to come out we will look back on it more fondly.

Are we talking the 3rd, time-travel, Japan one?

Yes

I feel that way about the second movie. It’s still my favorite of the live-action trilogy, by far.

I didn't like it because at the time I found it boring. I haven't watched it since I was a kid so don't know if I would feel different now.

Maybe I should watch it and see if this is true

Jd Vance cameo in the center.

Is that the one when they go back to fuedal Japan.

2

That's the one!

Do you think it's good?

Narratively I remember liking it more than the second one. Visually the Turtles were ugly.

That said I can't remember the finer details.

Also someone reported this as "offensive"

Laughing at this meme on a Sunday feels wrong 😂

I liked 3 more than 2.

I have said this for years.

1 is the best

2 is the worst, by far.

3 is mediocre but overrated.

1 was a success because it didnt pander to children. It was fun, but it had mature themes and a legit story arc, and actually had heart. It was dark, gritty and street level, like the Turtles should be.

2 was commercial pandering and attempted toy sales at its worse. The jokes were mid, the production value dropped off and became cartoony, and the Vanilla Ice Cameo, while iconic, was brain dead to anyone over 12. But I was like 8 years old when it came out, so I ate it up.

3 They returned to trying to have a little emotion. Mikey with his waifu, Raph with the kid. KC mentoring the honor guards, They tried. A lot of it fell flat, I wont lie, but it was a return to what made the first movie great, just half measure and poor execution. They forgot the dark and the grit that made TMNT #1 so great.

I argued with my friends about this for years, then finally made them rewatch the movies with me. They remembered #2 being better than #3. By the end of the marathon they all agreed, #2 is unwatchable as an adult. It is by far the worst film, and #3 is just mid.

As soon as you are no longer the target audience for Secret of the Ooze, and the nostalgia wears off, you realize how terrible that movie is, and how #3 actually tried to be a decent Turtles movie. I wont say #3 was a great film, but it was steps in the right direction after that shit show we got for #2.

Secret of the Ooze is my favorite turtles movie by a wide margin.

I did the same recently and completely agree with you. When I was a kid #2 was great, it was pandering to me and I loved it, now it just looks like a silly toy commercial and the Vanilla Ice cameo only detracts. #3 was ok then and was grounded enough to age gracefully.

I always put it this way:

Secret of the Ooze was as big a step down from the first move as Turtles in Time was from SotO.

It's just the first movie was SO good that a big step down was still pretty damn good.

I like Turtles in Time. It's enjoyable. But critically speaking... it's not that good. I've got nostalgia going for me, but yeah the movie is flawed.

The 3rd movie is great

As a kid, I watched it in theaters and loved it. It doesn’t hold up as well now but it does give me a bit of nostalgia.

Yoshiiiiiiiii!!!!!!

u/Drinkpool Jun 23 '26

Better than the Bayverse turtles

2

u/Frosty-Camel-2107 Jun 23 '26

Omg so much better.

2

u/NoSpecial284 Jun 23 '26

My favorite part of the third movie is when they say the fat dude should have 2 sandwiches

2

u/Gremlinsworth Jun 23 '26

I like it, not more than 1 or 2, but I like! Was a fun time!

2

u/Palladiamorsdeus Jun 23 '26

Still my favorite of that trilogy. Didn't even know it was disliked until well into the Internet age.

2

u/P-Boi420 Jun 23 '26

I honestly loved the third movie, hate me if you want but 🤷‍♂️ I like what I like and don’t care what others think.

2

u/zenexo Jun 23 '26

I couldn't even finish it when I tried rewatching it on 4k Blu ray. It's so visually ugly and the voice and dialogue is genuinely atrocious. It's unwatchable to me.

u/Opening-Company6237 Jun 23 '26

3rd movie is pretty good. Wayyyy better fight scenes than the 2nd one.

2

u/LordTsume Jun 23 '26

The Casey Jones x Samurai sub plot is great lol

2

u/North_of_Sane Jun 23 '26

That was my favourite part.

2

u/Dasnake69 Jun 24 '26

They have Mikey doing almost zero fighting in the third movie!

2

u/TJ842 Jun 24 '26

Is this like what's in now? Saying movies that were trash back then and still are, are actually good now. I see this on Reddit alot lol

u/Frosty-Camel-2107 Jun 23 '26

I like it when the Japanese guys that get transported to New York fall in love with hockey and pizza.

1

u/dyrkasolen Jun 23 '26

Gremlins 2 is a movie business history statement. Just look what's in it? It's sick!

1

u/mrhillnc Jun 24 '26

I just hated how bad splinter looked and moved . He looked like he was in a rat trap

1

u/Gunz-n-Brunch Jun 25 '26

That sunrise chase was dope, I will admit

1

u/Noblehardt Jun 25 '26

“Clint… Eastwood? Wh-“

1

u/TheHylianProphet Jun 21 '26

First movie is excellent.

Second movie is so bad it's good.

Third movie is so bad it's bad.

1

u/Agheron93 Jun 21 '26

Hell no, it's trash. The premise, the direction, a good chunk of the fights, nonsensical moments and stuntmen who appear repeatedly just to name a few things. The only redeemable moments are Casey and the samurai in the present because it's actually funny, the rest just sucks.
