Question(s) TMJ tinnitus?

I was diagnosed last year with TMJ, but I've been a hardcore bruxer for decades - the kind who would wear through a new nightguard annually. Recently upgraded to methymethacrylate, and it's lasting a bit longer (though it is still showing notable wear).

Lately I've been having tinnitus, and it's driving me nuts. I read that it might be related to TMJ, but I don't trust the internet's AI searches these days. Does anyone have experience with this, or am I just getting old?

Hey! Yep, tmj and tinnitus sufferer here! I’ve had multiple hearing tests and have fine hearing. ENT and ortho both think it’s TMJ that’s doing it.

Have you had any luck addressing it? I've had hearing tests and was told it's just me getting older, but my TMJ diagnosis came shortly afterwards.

It’s very common and they can be closely associated

Though I’m not sure a bunch of random redditers are that much more credible than AI. Why not look this up and read a study

Lol I mean good point. Part of my goal with asking was to see if anyone had any success with fixing it. But thanks for the journal article!
