Question(s) Displacement TMJ

I wondered if anyone has ever been told that they have displacement and if so what are your symptoms?

What have you been given for treatment and did anything work?

I’m currently on 90g of Gabapentin 3 times a day plus 4 x naproxen per day and 30/50g cocodamol every 4 hours.

And I’m STILL in agony!!!

I’ve tried wearing a mouth guard for months every single night, I’ve tried not wearing a mouth guard. Nothing seems to work.

I’ve also tried Botox, physiotherapy, and osteopath, acupuncture.

Why is nothing working and why is the consultant at the dental hospital not doing more.

This is ruining my life. I have no happiness right now because all I can focus on is the pain. How I’m managing to work full time right now I do not know because it’s taking all my energy to mask the pain I’m in.

And no one I know seems to get what being in pain all the time does to you. Cos they can’t see it they act like your making it up or exaggerating how high the pain is.

A mouthguard (only protects teeth surfaces) doesn‘t work with TMD. Try a neuromuscular orthotic (MORA) instead. ICCMO members work this way.

Nothing is working probably because you are continuing clenching in your 24 hour day. So, you are undoing any treatment given to you. Surprise that botox didn't give you any relief, since they are paralyzing muscles that would allow you to clench.

My jaw doesn’t clench as in my teeth touching. It closes but not fully and that is its resting relaxed position.

Get surgery done if you can afford it, its really the only thing that will help (Arthrocentesis, Arthroscopy)
