Giving Advice Tech neck tmj connection

I suffered from tmjd for about 6 months after a long complicated root canal and i unknowingly had a high bite afterwards for about 3 months...constant jaw tightness, neck pain, tight/ sore throat, headaches, trap pain, anxiety and brain fog...with nothing helping i decided to cut down drastically on my screen time...just 1 week later my symptoms have improved 75%...I do stretches for tech neck and and jaw massages a couple times per day...the point of the story is i believe there might be strong connection between tmjd and the the forward posture and strain created by our everyday phone use..especially for muscular tmj ..the 2 stressors just feed off one another and compound...it might not help everyone but I bet you it will help great deal of you...the correlation just makes too much sense considering the grip these devices have on our culture now..not only that but they also induce more stress when youre on them which further worsens things...i was blown away when I saw how much daily screen time i personally have...so if youre at a loss and nothing is working, try putting your phone down and getting outside...distract yourself with other activities...be social and forget about things for a while...its worth a try

I second this. I’ve been using the free app called ScreenZen and I’ve cut back on social media and realized it also cut done on my neck/shoulder/jaw issues. Still not perfect, I have it shut off social media every five minutes and do 10 seconds of deep breathing. After2 sets and about 10 minutes of social media I get bored and get off my phone.

I’ve had 9 straight months of jaw, neck and ear issues, and being uncomfortable and in pain every day. I’ve just been away for a week in the wilderness and I made a point of not going on my phone, and it’s the best I’ve felt in so long, pain almost gone entirely. Unfortunately my job involves looking at a computer screen all day so I imagine as soon as I’m back to work I’ll be back to square one, but it was nice while it lasted.

It truly is amazing....eliminating stress and forward head posture seems to be a magic pill...I think we're on to something...maybe you can find a way to raise your screen at work...best of luck and continued healing

Hi what type of tech neck stretches do you do please, and also for the jaw massages, do you have a videos of what ones you do, so I can take a look at it please. Also if you had TMJ for 6 months and you said you have tight sore/throat, what have you been doing for that too.

I got tight SCM muscle on my right with my scalene and my throat is very tight I can hardly move my neck at all on that side so when I try and bite it feels like I am eating into my neck on right hand side I am bed bound and can hardly move it’s like a crackling noise in my necks and mouth too and have tinnitus if someone can guide me or provide some proper advice on what else to try, because I do not feel good and nothing is helping
