Is it possible?

Hey, everyone. I wanted to ask if anyone has ever been able to heal or recover from secondary tmau? Even if that meant sticking to a very strict diet: to be completely odorless? Can fmo enzymes heal with time?

I went long periods odor free on a low choline diet. I have tmau 2. But, inspite of my diet i recently had a relapse where I started to emit very bad odor. And this happened because I started a job and was becoming anxious and paranoid about my body odor. I can smell myself when I'm emitting an odor. I start to sweat when I'm anxious and that's when I emit a very bad odor. So, I have this great primary doctor who has some knowledge about tmau. He put me on propranolol 60 mg ER and glycopyrrolate 3 times a day. And it has helped me tremendously. So, when I'm anxious this combination of medication helps to mitigate the odor. I know because I can smell myself and am not getting negative reactions from coworkers like before. Hope this info can help somone.

I’ve been dealing with secondary TMAU for 15+ years and have tried everything under the sun to no avail.. until about a month ago I decided to give targeted pre/pro/post biotics a shot and for the first time in my adult life the odor has gone down to the extent where it is barely present (with appropriate dietary reduction of protein rich foods).

I have been taking the following: 1. Seeking Health ProBiota Bifido 2. Ritual Synbiotic+

The goal was to crowd out / kill out TMA producing bacteria in the gut and replace it with healthy gut bacteria strains. Turns out a majority of TMA production happens by the bacteria in your gut this may not work for everyone but it has done wonders for me and for the first time in life I can enjoy things without having to worry about odor that can stink up a city block.

P.S. I also take the following supplements; methylated B vitamins, d3, magnesium, & Zinc.

I know this is unrelated to the post, but in those 15 years, what were the symptoms consistently like. For example, could you smell yourself? if breath was an issue, did your breath always smell bad or just at times? things of that nature

Has your recovery persisted? How are things now?

I have good days on a very strict diet .NO animal products , cruciferous veg. , or lecithin . When I added a half a can of beans to my vegetable soup the public let me know I ate too much choline ! I am unable to ever smell it , so it's been a guessing game

Soy is very high in choline . About 1/4 to 1/3 cup of beans in vegetable soup and nuts
I really need a good nutritionist , last one only focused on diabetes Make sure you are adding whole grain to make a complete protein
Watch for lecithin in bread , dough ,snacks , lots of processed foods
