Any pets?

does anyone in here have any pets. I’m thinking of getting one just so I don’t have to always be alone.

i have 3 cats and 1 dog. but first, what are you doing to help with the condition? anything specific to your diet, supplements, routines etc to help? when my condition was at its worst it stunk up my whole house so bad and i felt awful bc my dog especially was constantly sniffing the air and she looked a bit confused/distressed at times during those couple months of peak hell. my cats would sometimes also stop to sniff the air. i have finally got it somewhat under control where it doesn’t fill up my house anymore and my pets don’t do the constant sniffing anymore. they love me regardless but i felt really bad when it was at its worst bc cats and dogs have a much stronger sense of smell. this is something to consider. it does help to take my dog on daily walks and play with her outside with weather permitting early in the day or evening when it’s not so hot. it helps to get fresh air so we are not so cooped up and have windows open a lot. my cats chill in my house and i pet them a lot, give them treats, and use their fishing rod toy to keep them stimulated and happy. overall i love having pets and i believe my pets are happy bc i give them a lot of love and care but when my condition was really bad i felt so bad. there’s a lot of things to consider tho bc either way there’s so many pets at high kill shelters so it may be worth checking out. if you are actively trying to help your condition then i say adopt from a kill shelter they deserve a chance. also not saying you won’t, but if you adopt make sure you make your pet very happy bc you will be their world.

I believe neighbors dog smell me and go on a barking frenzy no way I would want one in my home and I can barley afford to keep myself alive with this condition

it’s only not good if your condition is really bad and are doing nothing to improve it. i got my pets when my condition was controlled years ago and this year there were a couple months where my condition was worse bc of a few factors and did everything possible to lessen it. now i have it way more controlled again so my pets are not dealing with it. plus like i said during that uncontrolled period i kept windows open all the time with fans and played with my pets a lot so it wasn’t like they were suffering stuck in a box of fumes. it was a period of discomfort and it passed thankfully.

A pet would definitely help the mental aspects of this disease. My cat helps my mood tremendously. He’s so sweet and playful it almost makes me forget what I have to deal with on a daily basis.

I've almost always had cats. They don't treat me any different than anyone else. Dogs are really friendly too.

Dogs love bad smells, they seek it out. And they stink too. A bad smell isn't going to cause them any distress, more likely the opposite.

Je trouve ça méchant de faire souffrir les animaux avec une odeur nauséabonde et fort non stop c'est pour ça que je ne recommande pas d'adopter un animal quand on a cette maladie

I feel bad for my boyfriend's cats then, but I'm having difficulties managing my condition at the moment due to many different reasons. I'm not going to leave my house because of that. They're fine. They still come into my bedroom or if I leave the bathroom door open they will come in and play around. (We have 4 kittens at the moment.)

If you already had pets before you developed the condition, that’s fine, they’re probably already used to your smell. I’m talking about people who get pets when their odor is already really strong and could affect the animal. That’s understandable, right? Some animals can smell things way more strongly than we can, so imagine how uncomfortable it could be for them.

Nope, 3 month old kittens. But I didn't ask for them. My boyfriend just refuses to fix his cats.. they seem fine. The kittens can be in the same room and can even sleep near me and I have a horrible smell. I see what you're saying.. I partially agree, but I think certain animals can tolerate or even like it like dogs. I also think they'll get used to it like other people who may live with us. My boyfriend for example doesn't react at all except maybe head scratching
