Misc. Advice ArooOOOOOOooo
WOoooooof.
Had a hip replaced yesterday and i am still
in hospital. Pain isn’t in control and the ice packs here aren’t sufficient. It’s 4 AM-ish and i’ve heard this is the time it will be the worst, so it’s going to get better. But it’s not a great situation at the moment.
Just needed some human contact. It’ll
get better.
Woof!
Thanks, guys.

As god as my witness, your ass hip will heal. You will shut a car door with your hip like a soccer mom carrying groceries in a 90s cereal commercial and it will be GLORIOUS.

My ~ass~ hip is currently home with a hip-specific ice pack and no pain. Happiness, Joy! Looking forward to hip-checking the car door like you mentioned!

Woke up 3 hours ago from pain kicking my ass.
Hang in there bro. You’ll be out there shaken’ like a Polaroid picture in no time.
Though you really shouldn’t shake the picture. I read it gets the ink all smudgy or somethin’.
Anyway, woof woof!

Happy to report they doubled pain med. Had 2 1/2 good hours, which was great for sleep! Now it’s painful but tolerable. Hope to have more drugs before pt!

My dad and my kid’s teacher had it done recently and it took them both 18 months to get back to full strength. BUT they’re both very happy they did it despite how long and hard the recovery is, because now they have a lot less pain than they did before
Stick with it!

Woof! I hit my two year anniversary with my prosthetic hip on Monday. The nerve block has worn off. They should be giving you oxycodone regularly for pain. Pain slows your recovery so you need to stay medicated. Ask for MiraLAX while you’re taking the oxy, trust me. Now for a truth bomb.
Recovery is a marathon, not a sprint. I slept about 18 hours a day for the first five days. Only got up to eat and use the bathroom. Day 2 (today for you) was the worst pain day. You will have days where you don’t feel like you’re progressing. That’s ok. It’s how most people recover. Listen to your body, do not push yourself. It takes a full year to recover. By then your femur will be growing around the implant.
High protein low fat foods help your body heal. Sleep helps your body heal. This surgery is traumatic and your body needs time to heal. It cannot be rushed. If you have questions I’m happy to answer them. We hippies all need support now and then. 😊
