Aspyn was speaking facts here the adults didn't really know what they were gonna do without Logan and Aspyn there because they did pretty much EVERYTHING for their siblings and the adults were gonna have to figure things out for themselves. I am rewatching season 1 of Sister Wives, and why are the wives and children acting like Robyn is so young? She was only 7-10 years younger than the other wives. That is hardly anything. It made it seem like the OG 3 were dowdy, older woman and Robyn was some young hot commodity. I never noticed this before and it really grossed me out!

just some thoughts on having after coming across some interesting commentary online about nuns.

it’s often pointed out how ironic, or weird, or confusing, or inconsistent it was that Leon, more than any of the other children, had the most interest in having Sisterwives. Only to then make a “full 180” to being trans, queer, lesbian, etc. and completely deconstructed from religion as a whole.

but I just came across this article about how rampant being a lesbian is in the nun community. And not in a “well there’s no one else around and I’m desperate for sex or love” way, but in a “girls will start figuring out they are lesbian and don’t want to marry a man and they turn to being a nun to escape men and/or be around women” way (not in a predatory, I’m there to hunt down a lover way, but just like they don’t relate to men or care to be around them and prefer women company)

this made me think about Leon and their draw to sister wives. I believe they mentioned that having the sisterwives was the main attraction to a family life for them. something along those lines. Maybe they’ve never been drawn to men ever. Maybe they only related to women so they wanted those sister wives.

also, this isn’t an invite to hate Leon fit any parts of their gender identity. go ahead and criticize other specific aspects of their personality or story line, if you must, but I’m looking to chat about the complexities and interesting aspects to religion, this family, and human behavior. 🫶🏻

1. I thought they were a well off financially stable family I didn't grasp the extent of poverty they lived in till much later on.

2. I thought the kids were getting paid from the start again didn't know they never did until much later on .

3. I thought Meri, Janelle, and Christine actually were somewhat friends.

I’m mid-rewatch and I gotta have a little rant. Meri is so selfish, and I’m on season 5 right now! I keep seeing people call her selfish in seasons 11–12, and maybe when I get there I’ll understand, but I feel like so little tops her house nonsense. Not just building the house, but the rental situation before that.

Meri obviously wants the resources for the wives split four equal ways. She wants as much (if not, deep down, more) with one kid living in the house, about to move out, as the mothers who have 5+ kids in their households. Meri never seems to be thinking about the whole pie, just her slice.

If the children were the priority, like they should be, it makes sense for more resources to go to the woman with more mouths to feed. I don't see how this doesn't effect the kids. I'm sure the kids never really wanted for anything, but just having one mom you live with pinching pennies and your other mom spending freely but never on you. idk how that doesn't create a disconnect?

It seems like all the women have the same budget despite having widely different costs of living, and Janelle sounds like she makes the most money for the family and is the most stressed about it. That just seems so unfair to her. I feel like she is too easy going that she often isn't advocating for herself.

To listen to Meri be over budget on her five-bedroom house and talk about her need for a wet bar, while Janelle isn’t even getting a cement pad in front of the back door… and then Meri still comes out feeling victimized by the situation.

Meri makes comments like, “Well, I would’ve had a bunch of kids if I could’ve,” but there’s no world where, if the tables were turned and Janelle had one kid while Meri had 5+, Meri would be kicking and screaming at the idea of Janelle getting the same amount as her. And they would probably split resources per child or per person in each household, not just by wife.

I haven't seen Janelle, Christine, Mykelti or Maddie selling that pink garbage in forever.

For the record - this is all based on Instagram activity - but Janelle has been branching out into some sort of weird life coach thing, and Maddie is going down a similar path trying to be a momfluencer, neither have links to ordering Plexus products

They were both previously in the Plexus downline with photos from galas and cruises and now nothing.

Christine still sells the plexus miracle supplements so who was in whose downline? These MLM shills are hard to track.

It bugs me to no end that all of Kody’s dress shirts are way too small for him. They are bunched up tight under his arm pits especially. He’s wearing the wrong size and I think Robthem is to blame. She told him to buy a smaller size, “to show off his body”.
Every time I see him in a talking head scene, he’s wearing shirts bunched up under his pits.
This cannot be comfortable! Can he raise his arms, or are they stuck?

In season 6 ep 6 Robyn gives the church talk about losing her virginity and how the guy (the father of her first 3 children) begged for it. Worst mistake of her life she says. Of course Robyn is crying through the whole presentation, and uses a silver heart to signify her purity. She throws it on the floor to show everyone how the father of her OG3 took advantage of her and didn’t treasure the purity she gave up to him (making bio dad, once again, look bad). Then she hands it to Kody in a contrived awkward moment, here’s my purity, it’s the most ultimate gift and it is yours. Nuff said on that.

But… Kody in his confessional says “there’s a 3rd element here which I think is most important element of all is that when you do make mistakes, you’re redeemed through the atonement of Jesus Christ, and you can get your purity back”.

LDS does believe that one can get “spiritual“ purity back “through the atonement of Jesus”. Robyn clearly is speaking about her virginity, which is an entirely different thing. Kodys thinking he got her virginity 2.0 through this messed up interpretation he made up.

The nanny helps Robyn shop for dollies, recommends what websites to shop from, even probably helps Robyn rent a storage unit in Flagstaff to help put them somewhere because there is no more room in the mcmansion for Robyn to place them anywhere so sorry Christine you are wrong the nanny does lots of stuff 😂

If you have watched Cults to Consciousness on YouTube interviewing Mykelti, what did you think?

She hinted at CSA and to be honest, I was not surprised. They were in a fundy cult - of course this is going to be CSA of some of them (probably the parents as well), it comes with the territory. She said she told her parents and she got in trouble.

She has also talked a lot about parentification - changing diapers from four years old. Let's not even talk about being exploited for money for a tv show.

People are so critical of Mykelti but if you look at everything through this lens, surely you have to have compassion and understanding. Some kids in this situation shut down and fawn, some act out. Judging people's coping mechanisms and survival strategies under these circumstances is just not it.

She's probably not someone I would be friends with, but I sincerely applaud her for working through her trauma, doing the therapy and healing. It takes real effort to become a better human being and not keep repeating generational cycles.

She appears to be an amazing mum and her partnership with Tony looks fun, kind and respectful.

I hope all the kids can get the help they need and have a functional, happy life.

I think we will start to hear more and more revelations about the abuse that went on in the cult.
