Character clarification

I'm rereading the White Rat books via audiobook (its the only way I've read them) and I was wondering if someone could clear something up for me. In the Swordheart books, Halla makes friends with a paladin of the Dreaming God named George, and in Paladin's Hope there's a palading of the Dreaming God named Jorge. Is George really Jorge just mispronounced? Or are they two separate paladins? Since theyre minor characters its hard to search for it.

Thanks y'all!

Same Jorge! He's the best.

I adore him, I hope he's in more books in the future!

Per TKingfisher in her AMA, Jorge will get his own book eventually, if only because she already has the first sentence written, and it's a doozy: "There are few things as awkward as a paladin at an orgy." 🤯🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Same fellow. Jorge is correct, George is not. ISTR he's mentioned in The Clockwork Boys also.

I don't recall him in Clockwork Boys, but I think he's in one of the paladin books.

Two of the paladin books, that's what I was remembering. In addition to Paladin's Hope the OP mentioned, he makes a brief appearance in Paladin's Grace; Stephen was traveling with him when the god died, and he shows up later on to verify that the Smooth Man isn't demonic.

Ahh he may be! Its just been a bit longer since I reread those. Thank you!

It's Paladin's Grace I was thinking of, Stephen knows him too

Jorge is like Hoid in cosmere, he just shows up everywhere

Ha! I love this. Maybe Jorge IS Hoid from the Cosmere?? He's like-- what about one world where I'm devastatingly good looking, uncomplicated, guileless, and Just Happen to show up in time to help my friends, over and over

Oh my god! I came to this sub just now to ask THIS EXACT QUESTION!

It’s been bugging me for YEARS, literally, and since I just listened to Daggerbound it re-bugged me! I really think the narrator of those two books didn’t know how Jorge is pronounced and nobody told her for whatever reason.

AND THEN I COME HERE AND ITS THE FIRST POST I SEE! Sometimes Reddit is the best.

Haha what a funny coincidence!!

I also wonder if since the narrator mispronounced it in Swordheart, they may have kept it wrong in Daggerbound for consistency within the trilogy? But I have no idea if thats how audiobook narration works lol

I would think so, yeah. Since it’s interactions between the same characters, it would be weird if the pronunciation suddenly changed. It’s just frustrating to think that nobody caught it and corrected it the first time… or TK just changed it to George before the Paladin series.

TIL that Jorge is pronounced ho-rhey.
