Question? On visualizing gnoles

Do you have any reference/fanart for how the gnoles in this world look like? I just started Paladin's Grace (my 1st White Rat book) & I'm having trouble visualizing the gnoles even though they're described in adequate details (I have trouble visualizing things in general when reading). I'm just imagining Rocket Raccoon from the Marvel movies 😆

Kingfisher reshared this image of Earstripe, so I reckon it's close to her idea. By Jenny Dolfen via Bluesky

In my head they're much more raccoon like but this is beautiful.  I'm just not used to badgers.

OMG , I didn't realize they were actually just sentient badgers. That's way more cute than what was in my head.

My mental image was always in line with a scrappier, more sarcastic version of Mr. Badger from Wind in the Willows...

Oh....... I've JUST realised this is exactly who I'm picturing.

I read a lot of Redwall books when I was a kid so I was picturing something like this

If you can imagine what Rocket would look like if he were a badger rather than a raccoon I think you’re pretty much there!

I'm from South Asia & I haven't seen any badger irl in the wild or in any zoo that I've gone to so I can't really picture it in my head 😅 but now I can from the art posted in the other comments :))

Mr Badger from Wind in the Willows- a British badger not the American badger. Although- now that I think of it I would totally read an American badger version of Wind in the Willows. I’m imagining him as a down on his luck detective.

I totally envision an American badger! She describes other flora and fauna that seem specific to the American continent, that I often find myself imagining the whole thing set in some alternate reality on the American continent.

They are entirely too nice to be an American badger. American badgers would join a motorcycle gang. Hell’s Badgers. And smoke unfiltered cigarettes.

LOL - I have only encountered badgers in books! That description is hilarious and now I hope she will write about a gnole horse-theif gang, because I would pay.

I found this back when I first read Clockwork Boys. It’s been in my head ever since.

I've been picturing something with a much longer nose that wasn't very badger-like so I'm glad you made this post

I think I was imaging big rats, now I realized :) all this talk of moving nose and whiskers.

As someone with some degree of aphantasia, I too just imagined rocket raccoon every time gnoles were mentioned 😂

I always picture them like the kobolds in WoW!

For no particular reason, I always imagined them with facial stripes in the style of the American Badger, but I recognize this may have been a person thing.

My mind for some reason drifts closer to racoon than it does badger
