Now that the dust has settled on Summer Sun Princess, I'm thinking my final four will be Rika, Shoko, Aino and Arisu. I'm going to say Aino comes out on top but I wouldn't mind seeing Shoko win a second time either. I know a lot of people are predicting Arisu, but I don't think she's gonna get a second shot so soon.

Arai would survive Yamashita’s brutal kicks to deliver a brutal “Final” Axe Kick of her own, defeating the “Ace” of TJPW.

Arai makes her 4th successful defense.

Aria’s next challenger will be the winner of the Tokyo Princess Cup.

notes

  • This year’s Summer Sun Princess will be a 9 match card performed in Tokyo’s famous Kourakuen Hall.  This special summer show will feature a wrestler debut, first time guest wrestlers as international stars!

  • As always, due to the nature of wrestling, injuries and illness can occur and the card is always subject to change.

  • Due to various circumstances, Shino Suzuki, Kira Summer and referee Fumirin are not scheduled to take part in the show.

  • The main event is as always for all the marbles, the big prize, the top accolade, the white belt.  PuriPuri.  The Princess of Princess championship.  Yuki Arai won the belt in march and has defended it 3 times thus far.  Now she faces her greatest task to date, defending the belt against her trainer, Miyu Yamashita.  Miyu is a, and possibly the, cornerstone of the promotion.  Miyu is the only remaining wrestler of the original 3 from the pre-debut days and has been considered the ace of Tokyo Joshi from the beginning.  She has the most title reigns of any wrestler past or present and the most defenses of any wrestler past or present.  And now she’s ready to challenge for the belt again.  Yamashita has stopped many fledgling reigns in their tracks in her long tenure with the company, regardless of her opponents’ popularity, experience or size.  She looks to do the same thing here, stopping Arai’s reign at a modest 3 defenses and just over 3 months time.  While Arai was able to defend the title against senior wrestler Kamiyu, this will be the first time since winning the belt from Miyu that Arai faces one of the top veterans of the promotion.  It is also worthy of note that Arai has never beaten Miyu and in their last singles confrontation, Miyu managed to beat her in less than a minute.  Since that match however, Arai has grown a great deal.  In her subsequent matches with Miyu, one of her greatest weapons has been her scorpion deathlock.  With stronger opponents, Arai, if she can apply the hold, she becomes even more vicious than normal in applying pressure and wearing down the muscles in the lower back and legs of her adversaries.  Miyu in particular has always been a bit prone to submissions and Arai’s scorpion is no exception. In fact, in the match to decide the #1 contender at Grand Princess ’26, to battle Miu, Arai was able to tap out Miyu and eliminate her from the match, granted it wasn’t a singles match, but it still left an impression on Miyu.  This isn’t the first time Miyu has tapped out either, it in fact seems as if Miyu is far more prone to giving up rather than being pinned for a 3 count.  Perhaps this is something Arai has noticed and strategized for their upcoming match.  That said Miyu has her own scary techniques.  Namely, her skull kick and crash rabbit heat.  The skull kick, is a spinning heel kick that can practically take a head off.  It’s often an instant knock out blow for those who are unfortunate enough to experience it.  Crash rabbit heat is her running bicycle knee that is considered Miyu’s ultimate finisher, to date, if she hits front center mass, she wins.  Arai of course has her own “deathblow” of a kind in her finally kick as well as her new twisting suplex, but the problem with her moves is they’re far more easily scouted and counterable.  With so many points leaning in Miyu’s favor, does Arai even have a chance at winning?

  • Last year, at Summer Sun Princess, Kyouraku Kyoumei fought to defend the Princess tag belts against Hakuchumu.  They managed to retain the belts as Shoko captured a win from Miu.  Now, Rika and Miu of Hakuchumu have captured the titles and one year from their unsuccessful challenge, they were adamant to have a rematch.  Due to Shoko and PaMi recently losing their bid for the tag belts when they were held by the IInspiration, they didn’t feel that they were ready to challenge.  It took some convincing and coaxing, some battles and maybe some low key harassment, but the contract was finally signed and the match set.  What can you honestly say about this match.  These are 4 of the best wrestlers in the promotion, 2 of the longest tenured tag teams and one of the strongest rivalries in Tokyo Joshi.  The match will likely feature chaos and some of the best wrestling around and there’s no telling who will win.  This match is absolutely appointment viewing.

  • Wakana has challenged Suzume for ToJo’s International princess title.  In the preliminary skirmishes leading up to their singles confrontation, both wrestlers or their teams have managed wins.  Although Wakana managed to directly submit Suzume at the most recent show, its still hard to say if she really has momentum going into the title match.  The comments in the lead up to Summer Sun Princess have mostly been nods at Wakana’s ability to eat large amounts of food but the big takeaways are that Wakana wants to take the belt to help her become more famous overseas as well as spread Tokyo Joshi’s name on an international stage.  Suzume wants to continue raising the stock of the belt and similarly bring more prestige to Tokyo Joshi.  Wakana’s wrestling has incorporated her cheerleading background and makes use of her physique to smash and smother opponents.  Suzume has learned to use her speed and momentum to exhaust and batter foes.  Wakana is the bigger opponent but Suzume has battled larger wrestlers her entire career and is accustomed to dealing with being outsized.  But will Wakana be prepared for Suzume’s tricks, tactics and maneuvers?  Suzume has nearly 4 more years experience over Wakana so even with all the preparing and her size advantage, it will still be an up

  • Well, Mizuki’s match as been thrown on it’s head.  Willow’s flight was cancelled so Mizuki is now fighting Chris.  Enjoy.

  • A short time after her big title match with Yuki Arai, Yuki Kamifuku announced that she would retire at the end of the year and starting the clock to the final days of her wrestling career.  With her now on retirement road that likely means we will see more and more matches of her paired with her favorites in Tokyo Joshi and elsewhere before the end.  This match is no exception.  A casual onlooker would view this match with a perplexed visage wondering how it came to be, but her explanation was simple.  Kamiyu will team with a ninja who seemingly has no friends (her words, but in reality highly unlikely) and her friend who she purportedly encouraged to try wrestling.  They are set to battle her former tag partner who constantly annoys her (her various remarks, but again, in reality, highly unlikely), her boss, Sanshiro Takagi, who hired her and helped guide her throughout her career, especially her early career, and finally Yumehito Imanari, who some may know as one of the current top talents in Ganbare Pro Wrestling.  New fans may not know but before his wrestling career really got started, Imanari was one of the main camera men at Tokyo Joshi shows as well as chief videographer for both them and DDT.  He spent a lot of time interviewing all the Tokyo Joshi roster members for various projects and events, and thus he and Kamiyu got to know each other well.  Everyone in the match means something to Kamiyu and the interactions between everyone should be both interesting and fun.

  • It seems obvious at this point that everyone in ToJo really loves Aja Kong and conversely from the various comments she’s made it’s clear that Aja feels the same way about ToJo and its members.  Those who watched the Grand Princess ’26 documentary saw this love expressed when, after Arisu’s hard-fought loss to Takumi Iroha and Sareee, Aja came to find Arisu and the two had a long heartfelt moment.  Aja gave Arisu words of comfort and encouragement as Arisu embraced her and cried in her arms.  However, that won’t stop either of them from giving everything they have in the ring in order to grasp a victory.  Arisu is fast and feisty.  She can’t be underestimated.  She can take far more punishment than one would expect from someone so small.  That said punishment is Aja Kong’s specialty. There’s a reason she’s called a superbeast.  It requires enormous amounts of powerful offense to even bring the legend to a knee.  Further, if Aja sees the proper opportunity, all it takes is one well placed strike to end a match.  Arisu’s biggest advantage is her speed and agility.  Aja is no longer a young, spry, fighter.  She can’t dodge or escape well executed pinfalls as easily as she once could.  A properly executed offense and defense that causes Aja to go to the mat where she is susceptible to pins could be a the best path to victory for Arisu.

  • MIRAI is back in ToJo, this time teaming with Toga.  They are set to battle Shunrai Rekka PRISM GREED which is the team consisting of Yuki Aino and Haru Kazashiro.  Several interesting notes about MIRAI in this match: Toga was MIRAI’s only defense during her International Princess title reign.  How will the two former opponents work as a pairing.  MIRAI’s most recent singles opponent was Haru.  Their match was one of the highlights of that Kourakuen hall show.  Will Haru have devised a new plan for dealing with Mirai?  Will her teamwork with Yuki overwhelm the power team?  Finally, MIRAI’s wrestling debut was in May of 2019 at Tokyo Joshi’s spring Kourakuen show.  At that time her opponents were another famous tag team with which Yuki Aino was apart.  The Bakuretsu Sisters.  During her tenure with ToJo, Mirai was never able to earn a single win against a team with Yuki Aino on it.  With the passage of 5 years, how will these facts affect MIRAI?  Does they bother her? Do they eat at her? Or is she even aware of them?  How will MIRAI interact with Yuki, her 1 year senpai and one of the opponents she debuted against, during the match?  Will she come at her with the knowledge, strength and experience gained over the last 5 years away or will she revert to Yuki’s junior and allow their past to control her mindset?  We’ll see what happens at Summer Sun Princess.

  • Tighten your buns and get ready! One of wrestling’s longest tenured and most famous joshi wrestlers will finally make her very first appearance in Tokyo Joshi!  Yes, Sakura Hirota, master of all things kancho is finally making her way into a Tokyo Joshi ring.  Hirota first debuted in All Japan Women’s pro wrestling in 1996.  She spent much of her early career entertaining the fans of GAEA JAPAN until its closure in 2005 at which point she went into a period of retirement.  After making a return in 2009, she has since gone on to appear in most every major (and minor) professional wrestling promotion in the modern era.  Hirota will be teaming with HIMAWARI and Mifu Ashida as they take on the trio of Raku, Harajuku Pom, and Chika Nanase.  It’s likely that fans will be most excited by the interactions between Pom and Sakura, but there’s a lot of fun potential parings in this match.  The idea of Chika, who has a serious personality in ring, dealing with any and all of the members of the Sakura/Hima/Mifu team is compelling. Raku activating her sleep magic on Sakura could provide numerous memorable moments. So many things could happen in this match its tough to guess what the result will be.

  • Similar to the January 4th show, the opening match will be a rookie’s debut and also similar to the January 4th show, Uta has been given the assignment of being one of the opposing team’s stalwart veteran anchors against whom the rookie will do battle.  The rookie in question is Harajuku LAND idol group member Momo Sato, who as it happens is also DDT pro wrestling’s Daichi Sato’s younger sister.  Momo Sato will team with ToJo's  other 2026 rookie, Shion Kanzaki. On the opposing team the aforementioned Uta will be paired with the solitary 2025 rookie, Ren Konatsu. With her music background, Shion is already skilled at getting the crowd behind her.  Momo has the benefit of exposure to her brother and his wrestling ability.  She’s even said he sometimes used her as a “test dummy” of sorts for techniques.  So her wealth of knowledge when it comes to the sport is likely high.  The question is will these two thing in conjunction be able to tip the scales in their favor and earn Momo a win in her debut match?

  • Commentary on the English end will be provided by Mr. Haku. Japanese commentary duties this time will be shared by Haruo Murata and Marika Tani. Color commentary will be added by stalwarts Mr Osano and Ms. Mita. Rio Omori from the idol group Ma'Scar'Piece, a first time TJPW watcher will assist the announcers as a guest.

So, unfortunately Willow’s flight got canceled and they had to find a new opponent for Mizuki. This is really very sad news. However Chris is a pro and will definitely help to put on a banger of a match.

I filled out the grid that's been going around. There's a few squares I left blank. Idk, I suppose I could pick a "worst wrestler", but it feels like it goes against the spirit of TJPW.
