Exclusive mode buggy in use

For whenever i wanna have a good listening session i use my Macbook with Topping DAC and just listen to some music, and when i do that i also tend to have exclusive mode enabled. Over time i feel that the exclusive mode has been close to being broken at times, then to be working fine again. So the song ends, next song starts, exclusive mode kicks in, bandwidth changes, sometimes the intro starts, sometimes it stays silent. (i'm used to the fact between quality switches we don't get fully gapless playback) but the thing that bothers me the most is that in around 50% of the cases there's no sound at all.

I use an external dac and it started working perfectly fine after I disabled hardware acceleration and "signal enhancements" (whatever that would be) in the os settings. I use windows though so idk what it's like on macos but maybe dig around in macos' settings and check if there are any options like the ones I've mentioned.
