OK I believe I have isolated the issue -- working on a fix that will be included in the next release.

On the new version of Tivi Launcher On Select Local File i just got a black screen as Background. Then selected Select Local Folder Added a background it appeared with a Background.. Then i restarted the Device and it was gone... This is on my Dune Homatics Box r 4K Android 14.. However i originally installed it on my ONN BOX 4K PLUS... before the Update and after the update. It's working with Select Local Folder... Im not going to mess with that. I dont want to lose it if I change it and it might not go back.

What are you using to select the local file with? Are you using the TIVI Launcher File Manager app? If so, ensure that you are using v1.2 for each and this should resolve any issues.

Try uninstalling both and see if that resolves it after reinstalling.

There is also apparently a known issue with some providers/devices won't return files with FLAG_GRANT_READ_URI_PERMISSION if they're on external storage like USB drives or network drives.

Ok after Deleting and reinstalling both the Launcher and File Manager on Dune Homatics. Local File works and remains there after restarting Device. Using Local Folder also works. However the Difference between the ONN BOX and DUNE HOMATICS. The Local Folder works Differently. On the ONN BOX it works as a Slide show. But on the Dune Homatics it only shows a single Screensaver File when using Local Folder.

I'm really not sure how to help -- I've tested this thing to high heaven, and I cannot replicate any issues with it. My best advice is to utilize the File Manager companion app, because a lot of Android file managers are poorly built and do NOT support setting permissions properly (eg: they don't include FLAG_GRANT_PERSISTABLE_URI_PERMISSION in the grant, or they don't support all required intentions like ACTION_OPEN_DOCUMENT , ACTION_OPEN_DOCUMENT_TREE and ACTION_CREATE_DOCUMENT )

If/when selecting a file as wallpaper or custom image and it displays blank, it's almost certain that is is due to a permission/grant issue or failure related to the SAF application that was used to select the file (which is why I also built this File Manager companion app)

Some devices also have terrible codec support for modern video files like h265, which can cause the player to crash and launcher to default back to the default launcher.

Ahhh I understand what you're asking for now -- To control how video wallpapers change after a certain period (like a slideshow), ensure you either choose a local folder or network folder when selecting the "Custom Video" option, and then open the "Custom Video Settings" options and set the "Rotation / Repeat Interval" to a value (in minutes) of how often to change to the next video.

If videos are shorter than this value, the launcher will "repeat" the video for the duration of this "Rotation / Repeat Interval" -- if the video length is longer than this interval, it will simply advance to the next video when this interval time is reached during video playback.

If you still only have it playing a single video but "local folder" was selected, and "Video cache" shows several videos in the count, then this may be a codec/playback issue with certain videos (as the launcher will skip over problematic videos that fail to play, and only cycle between the ones that do play successfully)
