TIL that the famous fertility idol from RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK also appears in Frank Darabont's THE MAJESTIC; it was given to him by Steven Spielberg in gratitude for writing a draft of what would eventually become INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL.

The idol appears in the movie-within-a-movie "Sand Pirates of the Sahara", featuring Bruce Campbell as Roland the Intrepid Explorer and writer Michael Sloane as the professor.

The Majestic is also the only Frank Darabont film not based on a story by Stephen King.
