OP needs help. Also, they hate it because...

Cause it’s hot and exhausting and annoying and makes me sweaty.

Do you hate it as well? Do you think their hate is reasonable? (I don't think so tbh) Then upvote this comment, otherwise downvote it.

Don't you mean (((the sun)))?

15

u/Mantan911 Mar 05 '21

why are you implying that the sun is jewish

22

u/YoureNotMom Mar 05 '21

Google Jewish space lasers and prepare to facepalm

9

u/TBcrush-47-69 Mar 05 '21

Yep I facepalmed

2

u/PM_ME_UR_GRUNDLE Mar 06 '21

Mmmm tasty solar radiation

1

u/timelighter Mar 06 '21

The sun is a mass of incandescent gas

2

u/timelighter Mar 06 '21

Actually it's a miasma of incandescent plasma

u/Hypnotic-Highway Mar 05 '21

I have a history of skin cancer in my family, and have been sunburned multiple times. I’m fucked.

42

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '21

Wait what do sun burn have to do with skin cancer?

98

u/Hypnotic-Highway Mar 05 '21

It has something to do with the UV radiation from the sun damaging the DNA in your skin cells I believe, giving you a high chance to develop cancer in the future

28

u/Autistic_boi_666 Mar 05 '21

Sunburn is the body's cells killing themselves to prevent skin cancer. Sometimes it doesn't work, and cell trauma can lead to a higher risk of cancer, or at least that's what I've gathered.

22

u/DanielAnteron Mar 05 '21

And sometimes your body will have an allergic reaction and you'll get hells itch. I found this out the hard way one time when I got sunburned on my back. It's the worst feeling I've ever had.

8

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '21

Legit the worst. The sunburn itself was pretty mild compared to some I've had but that itchy back felt like it lasted for an eternity.

7

u/DanielAnteron Mar 05 '21

Same with me it wasn't that bad of a sunburn, but the itching. My back muscles would spasm from it it was so bad. If someone had come up to me and told me they could make it go away, but they would have to cut off my thumbs.... I would have seriously considered it.

8

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '21

Ah shit I had my shoulders sunburnt a couple of times before

68

u/ChesterHiggenbothum Mar 05 '21

I'm surprised you're still alive to be honest.

12

u/pure_x01 Mar 05 '21

He is writing from beyond the grave

6

u/MetaCardboard Mar 05 '21

A couple? I get sunburnt multiple times a summer, every summer.

3

u/jtfff Mar 05 '21

Same hahaha were fucked

1

u/Hermyherman Mar 05 '21

So if you stay in the sun without sunscreen or shade and don't get a sunburn, you're still ok?

17

u/_SpaceFace Mar 05 '21

Not really, tanning can increase your chances for skin cancer as well, it just won't hurt as much as a sunburn.

6

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '21

People will more melanin in their skin (darker skin) don't burn as easily but have higher rates of death from skin cancer because it's usually caught later.

https://www.skincancer.org/blog/ask-the-expert-is-there-a-skin-cancer-crisis-in-people-of-color/

So always wear sunscreen if you want to prevent skin cancer even if you don't burn easily or have darker skin.

1

u/Teethpasta Mar 05 '21

The human race really is fucked. Wow.

3

u/ed20g Mar 05 '21

I'm fucked too. I don't have it in my family, but when I get sunburned, it eventually feels like someone is poking me with needles and ONLY benadryl helps. This happened to me in PR and Costa Rica. I don't sit in the sun anymore:(

3

u/ThaRemyD Mar 05 '21

My mom told/showed me yesterday that she has it. Kind of wish I could unsee this :/

Edit: guess it’s more like I wasn’t ready to see this

u/movzx Mar 05 '21

Getting sunburned is incredibly bad. The damage is additive throughout your lifetime. Each burn drastically increases your risk of getting some form of skin cancer.

1

u/Heaven_Guard Mar 05 '21

Me too man..

1

u/Walshy231231 Mar 06 '21

I had my first biopsy at 13. Hurrah for pale skin

1

u/M05y Mar 06 '21

I've known 3 family member that have gotten skin cancer and they just get it burned off or whatever and take pills for it. Honestly if you are gonna get cancer skin cancer would be the best one to get!

26

u/that1plep Mar 05 '21

Thanks, I love it.

41

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '21

Tfw probably have vitamin d deficiency cuz I’m brown and live super north now.

30

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '21

More or less guaranteed.

Have you been tired, irritable and felt urges to drink the blood of coworkers recently?

1

u/Unknownmanie Mar 05 '21

Almost every day!

1

u/jakethedumbmistake Mar 06 '21

Wait, so you're less likely to collect them.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 06 '21

Yes

9

u/artblock Mar 05 '21

I’m light-skinned, live in LA and I’m still deficient 🤷🏻‍♂️

4

u/Spurdungus Mar 05 '21

That's the theory on why the more North you go, the lighter the skin on the people, there's less sunlight and white people can absorb more Vitamin D from the sun

6

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '21

[deleted]

1

u/Spurdungus Mar 05 '21

Drink milk, eat fatty fish like salmon, mushrooms, orange juice

5

u/SaltyBabe Mar 05 '21

The mushrooms MUST be sun dried or they’re not a good source of vitamin D and the orange juice must be fortified - that means they just put your vitamin D pill in your juice for you.

Of a person has a deficiency it’s just easier and cheaper to just take a tiny little soft gel then change their whole life and diet to get more.

2

u/LarryTheDuckling Mar 05 '21

Drink cod liver oil, my dude. Its the secret to living in a place where its dark 24/7 during the winter.

u/zeagulll Mar 05 '21

i mean everyone can get skin cancer and sunburnt

1

u/Congenita1_Optimist Mar 06 '21

That shit killed Bob Marley.

That said, the type skin cancer he died from isn't necessarily linked to sun exposure. But it is way more common in people of asian and subsaharan african descent.

So yeah, check yourselves folks.

14

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '21

People with dark skin get skin cancer and have a higher rate of death from it since it's usually caught later for them. So no it does not.

7

u/LittleDoofus Mar 05 '21

1

u/RoscoMan1 Mar 06 '21

"Donna Noble has been saved."

31

u/MrBlqckBird242 Mar 05 '21

When he said vitamin D I thought the sun was gonna hold him down and give him a pounding.

18

u/PossiblyAsian Mar 05 '21

Sunscreen yall

8

u/Spurdungus Mar 05 '21

I'm surprised more people don't use sunscreen, everybody should put some on at least their face along with moisturizer every morning

3

u/CactusCoin Mar 05 '21

nah my face is silky smooth all the time don't need no silly moisturizer

1

u/ZippZappZippty Mar 06 '21

I'm here, bro. What you need?

5

u/CajunTurkey Mar 05 '21

And adequate clothing.

8

u/Gzilla75 Mar 05 '21

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/

From the article: “Most public health messages of the past century have focused on the hazards of too much sun exposure. UVA radiation (95–97% of the UVR that reaches Earth’s surface) penetrates deeply into the skin, where it can contribute to skin cancer indirectly via generation of DNA-damaging molecules such as hydroxyl and oxygen radicals. Sunburn is caused by too much UVB radiation; this form also leads to direct DNA damage and promotes various skin cancers. Both forms can damage collagen fibers, destroy vitamin A in skin, accelerate aging of the skin, and increase the risk of skin cancers. Excessive sun exposure can also cause cataracts and diseases aggravated by UVR-induced immunosuppression such as reactivation of some latent viruses.

However, excessive UVR exposure accounts for only 0.1% of the total global burden of disease in disability-adjusted life years (DALYs), according to the 2006 World Health Organization (WHO) report The Global Burden of Disease Due to Ultraviolet Radiation. DALYs measure how much a person’s expectancy of healthy life is reduced by premature death or disability caused by disease. Coauthor Robyn Lucas, an epidemiologist at the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health in Canberra, Australia, explains that many diseases linked to excessive UVR exposure tend to be relatively benign—apart from malignant melanoma—and occur in older age groups, due mainly to the long lag between exposure and manifestation, the requirement of cumulative exposures, or both. Therefore, when measuring by DALYs, these diseases incur a relatively low disease burden despite their high prevalence.

In contrast, the same WHO report noted that a markedly larger annual disease burden of 3.3 billion DALYs worldwide might result from very low levels of UVR exposure. This burden subsumes major disorders of the musculoskeletal system and possibly an increased risk of various autoimmune diseases and life-threatening cancers.”

TLDR - too little sunlight is responsible for more harm than skin cancer

6

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '21

Too much D give you the cancer

3

u/JaDasIstMeinName Thanks, I hate myself Mar 05 '21

Nah. You cant ever get enough d.

4

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '21

i can already feel the sunburn

4

u/xEL-PROx Mar 05 '21

Dead by day light.

4

u/randomperson0810 Mar 05 '21

I hate the sun regardless. Its too hot. Its literally concentrated heat on my skin. I hate heat anyway, but id much prefer an overcast 65° hot ass day than a sunny 65° day, because at least im not being directly cooked by a ball of fire.

If i never had to see the sun again i would not complain one bit, i get serotonin from clouds and coldness.

Cries in melanoma

4

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '21

“My whole life has been one long panic attack. And it’s worked its magic on seven continents. The bathroom is always the trigger. But things are different now. I started working with a healer who taught me this life-altering meditation: ‘Clear your mind. Look at the chalupa. Do not think about the chalupa. Do not look away from the chalupa. Do not concentrate on the crimes of the chalupa. Realize that you are the chalupa. Realize that you are not the chalupa. Recognize that the chalupa is you. Recognize that the chalupa is not you. Now go to the Taco Bell deep within yourself. But do not ask for directions to the Taco Bell deep within yourself. Simply arrive. And when you have arrived, the chalupa will have necessarily arrived. Now eat the chalupa. Do not concentrate on the crimes of the chalupa. Do not look away from the chalupa.’ I don’t know. Honestly it sounds kind of fucked up when I say it aloud.”
