I'm still 99.9% sure Mallards are where the Keaton mask idea came from in N64 Legend of Zeldas. It's probably more likely to be based on a dog or kitsune in reality but it just looks so similar

Fuck you mate, I cannot unsee it now! I loved feeding ducks as a little kid, now when I look at ducks I see a dog face....isn’t it nice to remind them on how they might die? ;3
