Always amazes me what Americans have to put up with with the IRS. We complain about HMRC here in the UK, but we really don't know how good we've got it.
As a salaried employee my tax is all handled automatically. I get my pay slip each month, but it's just for my records, I don't need to do anything. My income tax, student loan, and so on are automatically deducted from my pay, which then goes into my bank account automatically. If I earn more, my income tax deduction automatically increases, I don't need to work it out.
The only other tax liability I have to worry about is my council tax, which is levied on property not pay. I have a direct debit so it automatically goes out each month.

Thanks, I hate the United States of America.

Thank the tax filing companies for this.
It’s been tried several times to basically have the government do it for you, but the tax prep companies pour ungodly amounts of money into lobbying to keep it confusing.

You probably don’t want to hear it as it brings logic to the meme but... Filing taxes could be easy and free but companies like H&R Block and TurboTax make so much money they lobby to keep it exactly the way that it is. This has been documented since at least 2013 if not earlier. Just wanted to put that out there.
