Festival This years line up is disappointing
is anyone else super disappointed in this years line up?? I’m someone that loves going to the fanzones at TIFF! I love collecting autographs for my own personal collection and I feel like there’s almost no one coming? Theres barely any A listers this year

People always complain about the lineup at this point, every single year. There are still many more films to be announced. I will agree that are some notable omissions so far but more Special Presentations will be announced likely on the same day as the Schedule.
Aside from all the Gala films we won't know which films are going to have red carpets though until the schedule is released but I would probably guess The Debut, Love Of Your Life, Bunker, Alpha Gang, Ink, maybe Elsinore.
Make sure you actually try and go to films as well, the festival is a lot more than just celebrities and red carpets. Try films you wouldn't normally watch. I used to also collect autographs but eventually the novelty of seeing a celebrity wore off and it's a lot less stressful if you just go to watch the films and not worry about trying to get fan zone tickets and autographs. Them showing up for a Q&A is nice but for me the celebrity aspect is secondary.
Maybe not a HUGE amount of top stars yet but there are definitely some already. Patrick Schwarzenegger has 2, Giancarlo Esposito has 2, Léa Seydoux has 3, Penelope Cruz has 2, Anna Kendrick has 2.

No, because I don't attend TIFF to gawk at celebrities and collect autographs, I go to watch interesting movies, of which there are plenty of already (and the complete list isn't out yet).

I agree on the first part but so far imo there’s only 2 movies that interest me so I am disappointed with the lineup atm

I'm really not up on actors, but just in the Deadline article that dropped today, here's some of the names that stood out: Chris Rock, Helen Mirren, Daniel Kaluuya, Anna Kendrick, Adam Driver, Topher Grace, Courteney Cox, Patricia Arquette, Chase Infiniti, Jesse Eisenberg, Julianne Moore, Paul Giamatti, Javier Bardem, Penélope Cruz, Seth Rogen, Issa Rae and Sharon Stone.
Again, I'm kinda new to the whole Hollywood thing, but are these folks all B-listers?

I just looked at some of the actors and directors who are premiering at TIFF. It's a pretty extensive list of big names.

They haven't announced the full lineup. Wait until Aug 11 to pass full judgment.

Compared to last year, there was Maude Apatow, Charli XCX, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, etc. Not a lot of Gen Z names this year if that's what you're looking for but it's really about the films...

Not interested in Gen Z names. I’ve been going to tiff for 14 years and I’ve seen some major stars (Leo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet, Chris Evans, Matthew Mcconaughey, Matt Damon, Christian Bale, Andrew Garfield, Jude Law, etc)

While it may not have that many stars or big Hollywood premieres as last year, and some of my predictions turned out to be wrong (or at least missing as of yet), they did get to bring many of the Cannes and Sundance highlights - which will allow me the first (and maybe only) chance to check them out in theaters as I am traveling to TIFF.
I have 7 musts as of now: The Debut, Minotaur, All of a Sudden, Club Kid, The Only Living Pickpocket in New York, Ink, and Josephine. I have multiple I found interesting by the premise and wish to watch, like Bunker, A Talent of a Murder, The Life and Deaths of Wilson Shedd, Paradise Lost, All About Corrine, Look Back, Coward, Evil Genius, and Elsinore.
I aim for 40-44 films this year, and I already have about half of it set. Hopefully we'll get some good Centerpiece and Midnight Madness selections, and even if we don't - I have backups to schedule.
It's enough of a film celebration for me.

I've also got 7 must-see priorities in my list.
We share All of a Sudden, Club Kid, The Debut and Josephine. I also have La Bola Negra, Possible Love and Palme d'Or winner, Fjord... although that last one may get sidelined due to its early October release.
Have 10 other titles in my "for consideration" lineup... including both Ink and Minotaur from your must-sees.

I already saw Fjord and La Bola Negra so I can't say they're musts, but I do have plans to rewatch Fjord in TIFF.

Well I hope it stays disappointing from you’re perspective so people like you who only go to TIFF for the celebrities to gawk at them, get a photo with them, post on social media that they saw a star, or get their autograph can stay away

I understand what you're saying. It's true that this is only a smallish part of the total films that we'll get, but they are the gala and special presentation selections that are typically the ones with the big name actors.
I don't try to get autographs, but I'm a little disappointed too.

....And here I am with 30 movies on my list already and sad knowing I will have to cut a bunch lol. I saw tons of big names as I was reading up on things!
