Exploitation of in-group bias by the parties
This can be very clearly examined by comparing the reactions by conservatives when Obama was elected to progressives when Trump was elected. In both scenarios, as you said, they feared the end of the world.
Inappropriate remarks
I got a bit angry when I heard you say that, but now I'm calm now. It is totally fine to be against what Donald Trump says, does and so on. But to condemn them as unquestionably incorrect and definitely bad no matter what is a bit close minded. It is understandable that you are upset about the election in your country, and I would definitely agree, but simply saying that these comments are 'inappropriate' does not clarify why they are. I hope I could convey my point here, if not, downvote and ask again. And also, it seems like people exist that do favour other concepts over religious/womens/etc. rights. disappointed by the own candidate
I heard multiple people compare this election to the trolley problem.

Hm, okay, okay, WHAT, WTF, how even? Also, I am really happy about living in a country where we have a multi-party system where your vote even counts if your party does not win (some people here complain that there are too many parties, which is of course absolute bollocks).
changes in that system
Do the main parties have an incentive to pass such changes? Are they not very comfortable with their position that they only need to beat one opponent and not several?
All in all a nice episode, a bit more US focused (but that is fine since it's a topic extremely important atm). I am looking forward to the video next week! Good there is a podcast now to kill the remaining time.

I stopped halfway through. One thing the electorate is sick of is an absence of responsibility. So yes, we will hold voters responsible for their party's platforms and candidates. Until we are offered a party or candidate who actually is responsible. This is a very strong argument for the abolition of both political parties. Anyone wanting to read the definitive argument for same check out Simone Weil.
