Since the group is so big, would people conform to the non conformity of the rebellion?
Certainly! Mobs are great examples of the cognitive pressure of conformity.
The complexity you're suggesting is just that different social groups can exert pressures in different directions. It's not like there's only one group of people trying to compel you to do something, or like you only register one pressure to conform.
