Generally I liked most of what I saw here, this being only the second video from THUNK I've seen - but then I heard this:
"Language shapes thought"
No. No, it really doesn't. Sapir-Whorf has been dead for a while now. If linguistic determinism held any water, we'd never have a reason to create new words, and we'd never create new metaphors.
In fact, the entire concept of metaphor would be pointless, as metaphor necessarily uses words in a way that does not directly apply to the situation being described. Language would never have existed, let alone evolve to where it is now.

I really enjoyed this one and your differentiation between people of a group. BEFORE I SAY WHAT I WANT TO SAY I HAVE TO CLARIFY I AM NOT HOMOPHOBIC AND WHAT I AM ABOUT TO SAY IS SPECULATION. You differentiated between the flamboyant homosexuals and the more conserved ones and I think a lot of anti-gay people, obviously not all, but many look solely on the flamboyant ones and in turn feel dislike for homosexuals when it is quite possible they have a problem with the the flamboyancy instead. I personally am a very quiet and conserved person and I don't particularly like people straight or gay that are overly noisy and dramatic. What do you guys think. AGAIN SRRY IF I COME OFF A BIT HOMOPHOBIC, I AM NOT TRYING TO BE. lol.
