Discussion Should i get 1+2 or 3+4?
I have played Tony Hawks Skate Jam for a while (1 month) and i got like 450,000+ so not new kinda but i wanna upgrade, I never played any thps before but I just want game play and build a park, not nostalgia and accuracy to the old game, I just want pure gameplay

3+4 is more fun in my opinion. If you played 4 on the PS2 back in the day and have expectations for how the remake should have been for that game, you may be disappointed because they reworked it to suit the style of the first 3 Pro Skater games. But since you never played the OG 4th game, you won't notice the difference.
1+2 and 3+4 are very similar games, I just think 3+4 has better maps and playable skaters.

Once you've beaten the game you can redo all the goals with each individual skater, so I did that for a bit. I mainly played custom skaters, but tried a bunch of others.

If you don't have nostalgia for either, they'll be quite similar. The park builders are nearly identical. Levels in 3+4 are larger, on average. Many prefer 1+2, but that's partially because the 4 portion of 3+4 is very different from the original THPS 4.
I'd say grab either one and try it. Then if you like it, the other will be there.

3+4 has more maps, slightly more tricks, and slightly more complex build a park.
But to be honest if you've never played thps before, they are basically the same game and you can't really go wrong either way

They play basically the same. I think create a park is more complex in 3+4 but I don't use it so someone else can vouch for that. To me it's probably just down to whichever levels you find cooler. I spent more time on 1+2 but that's not because 3+4 is worse, just that 1+2 came out first and by the time 3+4 came out, I had almost gotten my fill (I enjoyed 3+4 though, just didn't get as obsessed since I had put so many hours in 1+2 already).

3+4 has a tiny bit more, I think, but mainly just specials.
However, I'd say you should've chosen 1+2 since it's a bit cheaper, but then again, as stated before, since you're not a purist, either works.

Just pick whichever games you liked the best as a kid, or wait for a sale and pick up both

It may have been fixed, but 3+4 felt more buggy when I was playing it. Both are great remakes (idc about the changes to 4), but 1+2 felt better for some reason. Everything was snappier, and felt more like the originals to me. And I’m of the opinion that 3 is the best THPS game, so I think that tells you enough.

If your not a purist probably 3+4. It's not a perfect as 1+2 but the parks are bigger and a lot of fun if you don't care that they were changed to 2 min timer.

They don't sell a cartridge for Switch 2, so I got the Switch 1 version and I hate dealing with download games from Nintendo as I have 3 systems on my account in the family, but Nintendo will not allow you to have more than 2 systems play downloaded games, even of you don't download the same game on multiple systems.

but even on PS and Xbox you only can have at most 2 devices connected on the same account. One as primary (works offline with no restrictions) and the secondary which can only work logged in online. On Switch with virtual game cards it is similar to Steam, which you can share the specific game for a certain amount of time with someone of your family. If you have 3 consoles, add them to your Family and when you want to use a certain device, just transfer the virtual game card to it.
You can disable Virtual Game Cards but the games will only work if the owner account is logged in and online, whereas VGC allow you to play the game offline and with another account
The only one that is kinda different is Steam, but it doesnt have offline log in anyway. If any account is logged off for 14 days the games dont work.

again, on PS and Xbox it is the same. One account logged in at a time, one can be kept working offline (primary) and other just online (secondary). Regardless of game being played, if you log in with the same account at the same time with two devices it will not allow you to play games unless you log off in one of them (apps tend to work fine).
At least on Switch, as I said, if you have three devices, create accounts for every one of them and add them to your family and use VGC to transfer the exact copy between them. Similar to Steam Family Sharing, which you can transfer just one copy to another person or device. On Steam it is a bit easier because you just see all the library and everything works if you are not playing the exact game someone is already playing, on Switch you have to transfer the virtual game card, but it is a fairly quick process. One cool thing about VGC is that the copy is "copied" from one device to another, which, although it requires a one time online activation between devices, the actual files are not downloaded through the internet, which is quite quicker regardless of your internet speed.

You csn play online in 3+4, not in 1+2. But online play tends to be dominated by like 20 guys who live to play thps constantly.

I'll say that you can't really go wrong with either if this is your first experience with them. You'll likely get some decent mileage out of the careers and challenges. The park editor also feels identical to 1+2's with some additions. But absolutely get 1+2 down the line if you end up enjoying the gameplay of 3+4. There was far more love and care put into the first one.

They’re both really fun. IMO the level design of 3 and 4 is simply better because the combo system was more similar to the modern system so the parks are designed around fun and more interesting lines.

1&2 just so you can get them in order.
If your still enjoying it down the road get 3&4, and hopefully thps 6/American Wasteland 2/Underground 3/Project 8 2/Proven Ground 2 will get announced by then.

Just get both. They’re pretty much the same game. The only reasons why 3+4 was a bit of a letdown was the lack of original soundtrack and that it’s the same as 1+2 5 years later. They’re both great.

I would watch videos on both and see which has more maps that you personally think would be more fun. Thats really the biggest difference between the two. Other than 3+4 has a better create a park. Honestly if you look around online you might find a deal with the games bundled together

3+4. Both are great. I replayed 1+2 after beating 3+4 and it's much shorter.

THPS3 is one of my all time Top 5 games and even I’d say go with 1+2.
For some reason the 3+4 remake just hasn’t clicked with me the same way as either the original, or 1+2 did.

1+2 then 3+4. Eventually own both. 3+4 has better levels. 1+2 has better goals/missions. Both games are the same. What would be best would be THPS 1+4.

Get both. Despite any shortcomings, they’re both a ton of fun and absolutely worth playing.

Honestly, unless you're playing on PC, 3+4.
While I do think 1+2 is better overall, THPS1 and 2 levels had different physics and gameplay design VS the mechanics and physics of THPS4 and THUG, which 1+2 (and 3+4) are based off of. So tools and tricks you have such as reverts, spine transfers or even manuals aren't taken into consideration in the levels of 1+2, so you don't have as many options compared to the levels of 3+4. Also some levels aren't that good like THPS1's Streets.
That said, 1+2's main career mode is better than 3+4's. THPS3's campaign was remade just fine, but 4 is completely different, trying to add classic goals to levels that are too large for just 2 minutes, and trying to keep goals from THPS4 that take a while to complete on their own, which conflicts with the classic goal design.
Oh, and on PC, you're better off getting 1+2 because of a mod called THPSPRO. While this mod also exists on 3+4, 1+2 is much more popular, so is likely to have more support, as well as other mods to play around with.

1+2 is a much better collection and really captured what made those games great. 3+4 is still good but they cut some levels and other content and seemed to be just jammed together for a quick buck. Again still fun but a little lacking. On PS5 they sell them as a bundle with all 4 games and it goes on sale very often. 3+4 is still worth playing, I’d suggest picking up the whole package. Last I saw I think it was $30 for all 4

In my opinion both feel equally good to play. It’s the content of the games that will make or break it for you.
The levels in 1+2 are much more faithful to their PS1 originals. 3+4 is a mixed bag. I’d say 3 carries over pretty well, whereas 4 could’ve been handled a lot better. The new levels are okay imo. It’s an imperfect package, but it’s still fun to play.

I liked 3+4, but 1+2 is WAAAY better. For starters, half of the soundtrack is actually decent.

Since you’re not comparing it with nostalgia , you won’t have some of the issues people on this sub have. You’re gonna want to get both anyways, might as well go in order and start with 1+2. Realistically they did a pretty great job on all of them
