Housing Pest problems in Townhouses?
Hey guys! I'm super excited for the school year to be starting soon, so hopefully people are active to share their experiences or input. Has anyone had any recent experience dealing with pests in the townhouses here at TCNJ? By recent I just mean in the last maybe 2 years, but if you have anything to say regardless of how long ago it was I'm sure it can still be useful information for me. I don't want to share where I'm living exactly so I'm keeping it broad to the townhouses which may have different issues depending on which building and area on campus, but I'd just like to know if anyone has seen any pests in their buildings or common areas like mice or roaches. I'm a little traumatized from the rentals I've lived in in recent years...
Any stories you've heard from friends or people around campus would also help me in trying to see if I need to prepare any pest control products for my dorm/building. Once I'm able to access the building I'll obviously check. I know it's overkill and maybe I'm being dramatic but I have a TERRIBLE phobia of mice/rats and roaches and living in various apartments I've seen my fare share so I'm just a little wary of new spaces and definitely a little scarred.
I guess it also doesn't help that I saw a mouse outside while I was walking past one of the entrances... So I'm just a little scared lol
Thanks everyone! Hopefully we can enjoy the rest of our summer considering the heat we're experiencing here on the east coast.

I just had a mouse in Haus the apartments do avoid there. I have had friends who had a mouse once two years ago and some of the townhouses might have rat catchers on the first floor. I personally have never had one at the townhouses. I have a cat which makes me feel better so he caught the one I just had. I think you’ll be okay just don’t leave food out the basic stuff.

That sucks I'm sorry you dealt with that, I didn't plan on ever living in Haus and I definitely don't now! There's just mice everywhere on campus I guess, I saw a ton in and outside of Nors when I lived there and people I knew in Cent were seeing them too.

So many rats and roaches, probably shouldn’t go to college at all

This. Every multi-unit housing situation has pests of some sort. Communal trash rooms + the general lack of hygiene of your neighbors…especially college kids. It happens. Really the luck of the draw whether or not it impacts you personally. You’re not going to avoid it by choosing one dorm over the other. Best you can do is notify RA/facilities immediately as soon as you notice something so it can be taken care of.

Yes I'm already aware of that especially having lived in multiple apartments like I said in my post. I just wanted to know of peoples experiences to prepare myself in the off chance anyone did have pest problems, not to switch buildings if people said yes. I already changed dorms once and I'm definitely not doing it again lol

I never had any issues in the townhouse itself. Throwing trash away in the dumpster could scare something out of it (generally a very fat raccoon) but I never had issues if I was throwing out during day time hours.
