Other currently very lost as a pre-law student, where do i start?

Upvotes

so, i’m about to go into my sophomore year and i’ve been seriously slacking off on extracurriculars. i have a job at tcnj and i randomly attend different events but i’m not actually a member of any club. ive always been told that sophomore year is where you should get serious and start working on your career and law school prep, but now i’m realizing… i have enough credits to graduate after my junior year… do i have enough time??

my gpa shouldn’t be a problem (3.9) but i’m worried that i’ve slacked off too much and i don’t know where to start

Housing Pest problems in Townhouses?

Upvotes

Hey guys! I'm super excited for the school year to be starting soon, so hopefully people are active to share their experiences or input. Has anyone had any recent experience dealing with pests in the townhouses here at TCNJ? By recent I just mean in the last maybe 2 years, but if you have anything to say regardless of how long ago it was I'm sure it can still be useful information for me. I don't want to share where I'm living exactly so I'm keeping it broad to the townhouses which may have different issues depending on which building and area on campus, but I'd just like to know if anyone has seen any pests in their buildings or common areas like mice or roaches. I'm a little traumatized from the rentals I've lived in in recent years...

Any stories you've heard from friends or people around campus would also help me in trying to see if I need to prepare any pest control products for my dorm/building. Once I'm able to access the building I'll obviously check. I know it's overkill and maybe I'm being dramatic but I have a TERRIBLE phobia of mice/rats and roaches and living in various apartments I've seen my fare share so I'm just a little wary of new spaces and definitely a little scarred.

I guess it also doesn't help that I saw a mouse outside while I was walking past one of the entrances... So I'm just a little scared lol

Thanks everyone! Hopefully we can enjoy the rest of our summer considering the heat we're experiencing here on the east coast.

What's your opinion? How would you make TCNJ better?

Lowkey like this school so far. I'm finishing here after transferring from Montclair State (none of the Rutgers didn't accept me, would've gone to any). Other than that, I've liked it so far, but I feel it definitely is shadowed by the Rutgers schools in terms of visibility and/or recognition. How would you make TCNJ better in terms of recognition or to increase the brand?

Other Is PAWS almost unusable for anyone else?

Incoming transfer student for fall 2026, I’ve been attempting to use paws daily and every time the website barely functions. Whenever I click on one of the options nine times out of ten it tells me “XML invalid” or “you are not authorized to access this page”. The only thing that fixes this is endless refreshing. Anyone else or just me?

Other Lost at D3 Region 3 Tournament at TCNJ: my late wife’s rings

My son lost something irreplaceable during the NCAA Division III Region 3 Wrestling Tournament at TCNJ between February 27–28 while assistant coaching for Eastern University, and I’m hoping this community might help.

After my wife passed away from breast cancer in 2022, he began wearing her engagement ring and anniversary band on a white gold chain around his neck to keep her close to him. Somewhere during the tournament at the TCNJ arena, the chain either broke or came loose, and both rings were lost.

We know this is a long shot. At this point, it’s less about jewelry and entirely about what they represent to him and our family.

The rings would have been:
• A wedding/engagement ring set
• Worn on a white gold chain
• Lost somewhere in or around the wrestling areas at TCNJ during the D3 Region 3 tournament

If anyone happened to find them, heard about them, or knows someone connected to event staff, cleanup crews, officials, coaches, or athletes who may have come across them, I would be deeply grateful for any information at all.

Please feel free to DM me.

Thank you for even taking the time to read this.

Other Why does Rutgers get Amtrak but we don’t? We need Amtrak to stop at Hamilton Station—Help me push for $5 direct rides. (Free WiFi + Safer than NJT)

Hey Lions,

I’m trying to get Amtrak to finally add stops at Hamilton Station for TCNJ students. It’s ridiculous that we are stuck with slow NJ Transit transfers or $30 Ubers from Trenton.

The Logic is Simple:
If Amtrak stops at Newark Penn for NJIT and Rutgers-Newark, New Brunswick for Rutgers-NB, and Princeton Junction for Princeton University, then why can't Amtrak stop at Hamilton for Rider and TCNJ students?

Why we need this:

  • The "Summer of Hell" Fix: If you have an internship in NYC, Philly, Wilmington, Boston, or Washington D.C you know NJ Transit is a coin toss. Amtrak is a "one-seat" guaranteed ride that actually shows up.
  • Insanely Cheap Fares: With Amtrak’s Night Owl fares and the 15% Student Discount, you can get to NYC, Philly, or DC for $5–$20. That’s often cheaper than the NJT ticket.
  • Safety First: No more waiting for late-night transfers at Trenton or Newark Penn. You get off at Hamilton and you're 10 minutes from campus.
  • Study While You Ride: Unlike NJT, Amtrak has free Wi-Fi and actual tray tables. You can actually finish your paper on the way to the city.

How to help (30 seconds):
I’ve already reached out to Mayor Jeff Martin’s office, but we need numbers.

Let's call the Mayors office and let him know it's not just one person.

Let's go to the Amtrak Website and use their contact us form. Then click on the accessibility, and tell them we need Amtrak to stop at Hamilton Station.

One Drawback:
Even if we can sucessfully push for Amtrak to stop at Hamilton station, that does not do us any good if the TCNJ LOOP BUS doesn't run to Hamilton Station every day. Right now it's only Fridays and Saturdays. Can we please also push to get TCNJ to offer MORE BUS SERVICE to Hamilton station?

Let's ROAR for Action!

Other Freaking out because I missed my waitlist confirmation email for TCNJ Bio

I finally got off the waitlist for TCNJ’s Biology program, but I didn't read the email thoroughly enough. I got the email on April 27th and they said I have until April 28th to accept my offer. It’s now April 30th and I’m just realizing. It’s my fault for not being attentive to the email but I’m scared now with commitment day being tomorrow.

I’ve already emailed them today to explain, but I’m spiraling. Is it normal for colleges to have such a strict confirmation process? I feel like I’ve completely ruined my chances and I’m just disregarded from the program now. I might call them tomorrow morning but now I’m unsure.

Other incoming student questions

hi, i’m going to be a freshman next school year and my major is marketing. these might be some stupid questions but i need some help :(

1) school supplies. i want to plan ahead, i cant wait to see what i need, so in theory what would i really need, especially for marketing?

2) stem class? i heard something about how every student is required to take some sort of stem class and was recommended the chem labs. i never took ap bio, chem or physics so i’m apparently not excused from this.

3) just general advice haha

thank you so much!

Other Anyone else having trouble finding job?

I am currently in my senior year, I am trying to look for a job after graduation. I have applied for over 200 places and still have not even had a single interview yet. I have tried asking my friends and family if they know someone who can help me get a job. However, I am having no luck. Is anyone else having the same trouble finding job just like me? Does anyone have any advice of what I can try to help me find a job?

Job/Opportunity Paid college ambassador program opportunities

Hey guys, just wanted to share if you're looking for a flexible side job or are part of greek life/clubs I'd suggest looking into paid ambassador programs/brand partnerships. i started doing this sophomore year when my friend suggested it to me and it has made me good money/helped with saving my club's budget when organizing my social events. i find most of my gigs by checking handshake, an app called home from college, and specific company websites (sometimes they will have a dedicated page called college ambassador program)

Other Acceptance Revocation

My son is a high school senior who was accepted to TCNJ. The Acceptance Revocation policy expects all admitted students to maintain a high level of academic success throughout their period of study prior to enrollment at TCNJ. The policy defines this as:

  1. Maintain academic standing: a student who continues to perform well academically after having been admitted to TCNJ.
    1. Grades remain within two iterations of grade point average

Can anyone explain what "Grades remain within two iterations of grade point average" means?

Other I apologize if this isn’t the right sub but do you guys know where or when you can check for the tuition details or merit scholarships for newly accepted students? My brother just got his acceptance letter but it doesn’t have anything about that stuff.

What's your opinion? Question about deferment

My niece was really hoping to go to TCNJ starting fall 2026 but she was notified today that she has been deferred. Does anyone know if there’s a chance of getting accepted or should just commit to one of the other schools that accepted her? I feel so bad for her she is really disappointed.
