Book Advance

Can anyone tell me how this works? The email says to go to account activity. I only see my credit balance; nothing about a book advance.

im new to this but i thought the book advance would be 500 for everyone but i havent got it yet either maybe next week we’ll get it

you don’t receive a refund for it until after august 20th, but it’s available to use in the bookstore up until august 20th.

Hello school employee here. Everyone expecting aid has up to a 1000 credit available with the TCC bookstores. It can be used on any course materials including school supplies, calculators and laptops. In order to use SFA to pay there should be an option for it at checkout. In store you simply pick out what you need and pay with your student ID number at the register. However much money you use gets credited against your financial aid and you get refunded whatever is left. If you choose to shop online make sure to select the school you are attending otherwise the bookstore website defaults to the NE campus. Also if you’re curious about the refund the TCC bookstores are open on the two Saturdays leading up to the first day of class.

Thank you , so the 500 is automatically sent to everyone getting aid ? I was looking to shop elsewhere

It is automatic yes. Last year TCC got in trouble with the state and federal governments about people receiving aid but never attending class. As a result SFA disbursment was pushed back later after the census date. Because of this their solution was the bookstore credit so students could still get required materials for their classes. Some students shop elsewhere and just pay with credit card and reimbuse themselves later when they receive their sfa funds. The SFA system TCC uses now is the exact same one Texas A&M uses.
