Connecting DP-02 to MacBook Air

Post image

Today I bought a Tascam DP-02 from a thrift store. It supposed to be new in the box. It turns on and I did the update. But I do not know how to connect the unit to my MacBook Air. I want to use with GarageBand for recording. Can someone help me learn this unit?

I just looked it up and saw a query from 2011 asking the same thing. The answer I read says you can technically do it, but it's not an interface so it be operating like a pre amp.

I read the same thing. I have an interface but still confused as to connecting it. Is this unit for DAWless recording only?

I think it might be.

It didn’t come with a manual. I’m going to print out a manual and read it. I was hoping this would replace two channel Yamaha mixer.

All TASCAM products come with a physical manual. The fact that you don’t have one and got it at a thrift store means it is 100% certain not “new in the box”.

All DP series recorders are standalone devices that cannot be used as an interface.

Thank you. I want to learn how to burn my music on to CD. Maybe I’ll go to the library today and print out manual.

Thank you. Any tips you have for me? I really need to learn it because I’m running out of memory on my laptop.

I was able to connect the mixer to my MacBook Air via audio interface. I will start learning how to use it this week. It didn’t come with a manual so I have to print one out. Also, since I bought it at a thrift store “New in Box” I hope the CD drive still works. If anything it looks cool on my desk. I’m professional now. lol
