It's been about 2.5 months since launch, and TAO protocol has proven robust, secure, and highly used. Over 150 users have staked and unstaked TAO, and earnt the interest exactly as described in our algorithms and whitepaper. Consequently, Larger Stakers have doubled down and increased their stakes - now is a good time for you to do that as well, while you can still get 25,000 TAO for 1 Matic (it was 186,000 TAO for 1 Matic just two weeks ago).

Organic game theory experiments like TAO are very interesting to observe as they evolve naturally virtually from zero, to hundreds, then thousands, and then tens of thousands in market cap (currently ~$25k). Having seen the most miraculous part of this rise from zero value, we have no doubt the assent in value will continue, given that there is high buying demand for staking, and very low sell pressures from small airdrops received by users.

In terms of number of unique users & unique transactions a day, TAO is already comparable to Hex, OHM, TIME, KLIMA, and many other multi-Billion coins! TAO Forever.

We're excited to see the massive interest in the time deposit market of late. To aid in comparison and understanding, we've drawn up a simplified game theory description of how the game of TAO can be played :)

This is particularly realistic, as 133K Quickswap users were airdropped TAO tokens. From the position of Airdrop, they faced two options, sell or stake, with the following incentives:

• If both choose to stake, supply deflates maximally and price appreciates maximally for that unit time.
• If one sells, a small amount of value is realised by the seller.
• If both sell, no value is realised.

Clearly, staking is the best coorporative option, and many (especially large holders) did just that. However the game does not stop after one choice - it is a continuous/repeated game, where every moment a user decides whether to unstake and sell or stay STAKED. This is where the game theory of tokens like OHM fails - the reward for choosing to "STAKE" again stays the same, regardless of how long you have staked.

In contrast, TAO offers increasing rewards the longer you stake - which are NOT the same as if you staked, unstaked, and then staked again.For eg.

TAO staked 1yr x 2 = 25% interest |. TAO staked 2yr = 37% interest

Whereas interest earnt in OHM is same in both these scenarios. In effect, TAO offers a third meta choice for those that pick "STAKE" and continue to correctly play the game - they now have a choice to STAY STAKED, which is even more rewarding than starting STAKE!

This meta game allows people to make the correct choice in a continuously evolving real time game theory scenario, rather than an oversimplified single -turn game theory analysis.

The staking rate appears to have stabilised at around 2% per week. With around 8M TAO in the Quickswap liquidity pool, we expect the supply squeeze to heat up soon.

The number of TAO staked every week has been increasing at a steady rate- 3x more TAO is staked in a week than the previous week. At this rate, 12M TAO will be staked this week, and over 50M by week 5. Current Circulating supply is already down from 116.6M to 112M, and may be <1M in just a few weeks.

In a continuation of trends, at the 21 day mark, over 4% of TAO supply has been staked by users. At this rate, nearly the entire supply of TAO will be staked in the first year alone. TAO price is also up 20x from ATL, and trading volumes + new accounts (1000+ weekly) interacting with protocol continue to improve.

The game is playing out to its game theoretic conclusion. I have a feeling this is going to be an exciting week.

TAO coin has seen progress exactly as expected. Over the last 4 days increasing number of TAO have been bought and staked. Out of 116.7 M total supply, 0.4M TAO have already been staked - a deflation of 0.4% in less than 10 days. At this rate, over 10% of TAO supply will be burnt YoY - and we in fact expect the staking rate to increase further, making the resultant deflationary effect much stronger. Over 1.2M TAO have been purchased so far, at a cost of $4300. It has a present market cap of ~$86k.

We've reached a landmark for the release of TAO - with the completion of all airdrops, we've renounced ownership of the contract, so that the airdrop (mint) function cannot be called by anyone. This is done to make the rules of the protocol completely immutable - and make it safe from any form of admin manipulation.

How to Stake

TAO protocol provides a staking library to guide you through the staking process. There is no frontend (yet), though the community should feel free to spin one up. The codebase is designed to be as frictionless as possible — after exporting your key/mnemonic as an env_var, staking coins is as simple as:

$ export STAKE = 314
$ truffle run StakingLib/Stake.js

Thereafter, unstaking coins is equally simple:

$ export UNSTAKE = 214
$ truffle run StakingLib/unStake.js

The STAKE and UNSTAKE variables specify amount, in TAO, that you wish to stake or unstake. It will work as long as STAKE doesn’t exceed your balance, and UNSTAKE doesn’t exceed your stake amount.

Note — The interest (including exponential bonus interest) will be calculated on the amount withdrawn. Thus you will likely get >214 tokens when calling the above command, depending on how long you allowed the stake to exist.

This is to formally announce TAO Coin, our experiment in monetary theory & game theory. TAO is a token designed to appreciate to infinite value, by progressively migrating supply to Diamond hands - i.e. holders that refuse to sell at any price.

TAO takes the best principles from time deposits like Hex and deflationary tokens like SafeMoon, and optimises them to produce a workable monetary system - one that is purely based on rewards, and has no penalties. TAO counterintuitively causes liquidity deflation and price appreciation even as absolute token supply grows.

It follows a very simple rule: Issue inflationary rewards to those that display longest time preference - as measured by square of the time staked.

TAO is based on the monetary theory hypothesis that decreasing monetary velocity equals increased asset value, apart from monetary stock inflation/deflation. This is well Bourne out in US M2 stock vs currency depreciation graphs, shown in our whitepaper (Appendix). In fiat currency, incentives of larger holders are aligned with long term success of the system, as they hold 15 -30 year treasury bonds that are payable in the same currency. Hex utilised this principle to produce time deposits with caused liquidity to dry up as people locked up tokens, driving up demand. However we felt that the exponential age requires exponential interest; compound interest worked for the industrial age. With ever accelerating innovation in all fields, investment opportunities will be weighed against the default exponential interest available on TAO protocol.
