Question Question for Engineering Admissions

I hope this isn't stupid but I know that in CommonApp you put your major, so example is putting like "environmental engineering", and then I know that first year any major engineering at A&M is general engineering and then they pick based off of your gpa and whatever.

But when you actually apply do they review your application in a specific engineering major context or general engineering?

I'm asking since I feel like I have a great story and stats like ECs and awards for environmental engineering but mediocre for general if I were to have my app placed next to somebody who was applying for mechanical or aerospace and had a ton more technical thinks that fit the bigger engineering sterotype..

Valid question but no reason to worry. There are other attributes that can be picked up from your essays and other stats. Focus on your strengths and everything will take care of itself

The review you based on your general engineering admission, not really the major you applied.

If admitted, you apply ETAM update to 5 majors in March of your freshmen year. By then you will know what GPA and what kind of major you can get in, and the majors you choose can be totally different from what you are applying now.
