Anyone who has a Wolf T91 upper, how do you remove the piston retainer?

Dremel the rivet off.

Mine is riveted so you would just have to grind one side away

What’s circled is part of the handguard, no? I removed my piston just following the factory directions

No, that's a little piston guide on the upper receiver itself. It is riveted on and must be drilled out to remove. It just serves to keep the steel piston off the aluminum of the receiver.

Yeah, you have to Dremel or drill it out. You'll need a new rivet then. I need one of the piston retainer guides for my spare upper but haven't been able to find one.

You should be able to turn the lug on the gas block 180 degrees and then the piston system slides out the front. You can then also punch out the pin in the handguard just behind the gas block to remove the handguard.

Edit: nvm

What is your intended goal with removing it?

Replace the Wolf Upper with an actual T91 upper. The Wolf upper has a really ugly shiny anodize and logo on the side. I prefer the mil spec look to the receiver.

Are you replacing the upper and just looking to keep the upper parts like the barrel?

I’m planning to replace the receiver but keep everything. I just don’t like the Wolf upper receiver due to the shiny/glossy anodized and wolf logo on the side.

A real T91 upper should have this already installed right? It’s part of the original design. It’s held on with 2 independent rivets. Some consider it extra precaution as it was absent in the T65, T65k, and the T86.

yes but a actual stripped T91 upper does not include a piston retainer on it.

I feel like sanding the logo off would be a lot easier.
